Toms River South 10, Jackson Liberty 9

Sophomore Brady Derome registered a game-high five goals and two assists, senior Corey Kaiser scored three goals and one assist, and senior goalie Jake Hull made 10 saves as the Indians won a barnburner over the Lions to open up their season.

Jackson Liberty had an extra-man opportunity in the final minute but Toms River South was able to kill off the penalty thanks to a clutch ground ball by junior Matthew Hartzfeld. Senior Aidan Vicidomini added two goals and juniors Cal Narvaez and Billy Rutledge had one assist each.

Junior Reese Stewart scored four goals with one assist, sophomore Paul Capozzi totaled three goals and three assists, and sophomore goalie Matthew LaBianca made a whopping 22 saves to lead Jackson Liberty. Joshua Friedman scored two goals with one assist while Baran Alpaslan, Dante Roberto, and Billy Schuller had one assist each.

 

Barnegat 16, Neptune 5

Aidan Reiser scored sank four goals with one assist and Antonio Frusco won 24 of 26 face-offs to power the Bengals (1-1) to a win over the Scarlet Fliers (0-1).

Luke Tortorici delivered three goals and one assist, Bryan Snowden had a hat trick, Robert Sawicki tallied two goals and three assists, Kurt Bonin totaled two goals and one assist, and Bailey Carroll and Connor Gorgia each scored once as the Bengals used a balanced scoring attack. Alan nelson picked up 16 ground balls while Lucas Holland made three saves and Travis Wade had 10 stops in goal.

 

Nonconference

No. 4 Wall 10, St. Joseph (Metuchen) 3

Senior midfielder Matt Dollive and junior midfielder Connor Moore each tallied three goals and one assist to lead the Crimson Knights (2-0) to a win over the Falcons (0-1).

Wall led 4-2 at halftime before opening an 8-2 lead with a four-goal third quarter. Junior attackman John McCurry scored twice, junior attackman Patrick Donohue and sophomore midfielder William Madden each scored once and Jack Belko, Michael Hoarle, Jack Meyer, and Dominick Giglio chipped in with one assist apiece.
