Class A North

No. 7 CBA 14, Long Branch 0

Sophomore attackman Ryan Martin scored a game-high two goals and two assists while junior midfielder Christian D'Alterio and junior attackman Nick Blalock each totaled two goals and one assist as the Colts (2-1, 1-0) shut out the Green Wave (0-2, 0-1).

Peter Rawlins, Jake Andreski, and Chase Bazant each had a goal and an assist, while Cameron D'Alterio, Padraig Quinn, Davis Campbell, Christian Petruzzelli, and Liam Schwarz scored once. Jack Santos, Jack Phillips, and Hayden Kelly had one assist each.

 

Class A South

No. 3 Southern 21, Central 1

The Rams (2-0, 1-0) had 14 different goal scorers and six players scored two or more goals in a lopsided win over the Golden Eagles (0-3, 0-1).

Joey DeYoung scored a game-high three goals and junior attackman Hayden Lucas tallied game-high eight points on one goal and seven assists. Jack Kolbe totaled two goals and three assists, Zach Washco had two goals and one assist, Andrew Mulholland had a goal and two assists, and Jake Cornelius, Shea Hillie and Liam Griffin each scored twice.

Konnor Forlai added a goal and an assist and Mike Zecena, Tyler Murowski, Ryan Sininsky, Joe Kessler, and Jake Washco had one goal apiece. Kurt Falk won 12 of 15 face-offs and Nolan Anderson went 5-for-10 on face-offs. Tyler Sininsky (1 save) and Nick Roesch (3 saves) split time in goal.

Jahaziel Garcia scored the lone goal for Central.

Southern led 15-0 at halftime.

 

Brick Memorial 10, Toms River East 6

Senior Dan Aulisi scored five goals and two assists and senior goalie Paul Mazzeo made 18 saves as the Mustangs (2-0, 1-0) surged to a victory over the Raiders (0-1, 0-1).

Matt Cohts added two goals, Rob Beshears and Josh James had a goal and an assist each, and Chas DeVeau scored once.

Junior midfielder Luke Barber scored three times to lead the way for Toms River East. Seniors Noah Raimonde and Gabriel Lopez added a goal and assist each and freshman midfielder Nate Cummings scored his first varsity goal.

 

Jackson Memorial 16, Toms River South 4

Senior midfielder Charlie Harrison had a huge morning with a career-high six goals plus two assists and a 10-for-13 performance at the face-off X to lead the Jaguars (2-0, 1-0) to a victory over the Indians (1-1, 0-1).

Drew Barocas was also a major offensive contributor with four goals and two assists while Matt DeRosa scored two goals with four assists to reach 100 career points. Justin Perillo scored three goals and one assist, Charlie Gumina chipped in with a goal and an assist, James Casaine picked up a team-high seven ground balls, and Mike Rauch collected six ground balls.

Corey Kaiser scored twice, Shane Toal scored once, Cal Narvaez had a goal and assist and Jake Hull made 12 saves for Toms River South.

 

Toms River North 6, Brick 5 (OT)

Junior attackman Nick Walano scored four goals and Junior Matthews' first career goal was the overtime game-winner as the Mariners (1-1, 1-0) rallied from a 5-0 first-quarter deficit to defeat the Dragons (0-2, 0-1) in thrilling fashion.

The score was 5-1 Brick at halftime before the Mariners scored three times in the third quarter and netted the equalizer in the fourth to send the game to overtime. Patrick Bennett added a goal and an assist and Tim Beahm had two assists.

 

Class B North

No. 5 Shore 12, No. 8 Red Bank 1

Senior midfielder Jamie Mazzacco scored five goals and added two assists and sophomore midfielder Sam Madalone scored three goals and dished out five assists as the Blue Devils (2-0, 1-0) scored an impressively thorough victory over a talented Bucs (0-1, 0-1) squad.

Junior goalie Walker Hunter had a sensational game in goal with a career-high 26 saves and allowed only a second-quarter goal. Shore built a 6-1 halftime lead and blew the game open with a 5-0 run in the third quarter.

Carson Cooke added two goals and one assist and Aidan Murphy and Ben Levy each scored once.

Henry Spencer had the lone goal for Red Bank while Gavin Lisko made nine saves.

 

Ocean 12, Neptune 2

Senior midfielder Brent Shaflin sank three goals with two assists and sophomore midfielder Ben Girard tallied two goals and two assists to send the Spartans (1-1, 1-0) to a victory over the Scarlet Fliers (0-2, 0-1).

Michael Terry added two goals and one assist, Willie Canavan and Joey Constandi each had a goal and an assist, and Omar Aly, John Shotter, Griffin Richard, and Nick Iacouzzi each scored once. Blaine Grayson made eight saves.

Ryan Podlaski scored both goals for Neptune and Ryan Petrillo made seven saves.

 

Holmdel 13, St. John Vianney 2

All six Hornets (2-0, 1-0) offensive starters recorded multi-point games to lead the way in a win over the Lancers (0-1, 0-1).

Jaden Gallo had a game-high five points on two goals and five assists, Will Gilfillan tallied three goals and one assist, and Aidan Lagana also scored three times. Evan Cohen added two goals and one assist, Dylan Lagana scored twice, and Kyle Capcsos had a goal and two assists. Andrew Arredondo made seven saves in goal.

 

Class B South

No.  2 Manasquan 9, No. 4 Wall 6

Dominant work at the face-off X by senior Max Pauwels fueled a fast start and a balanced scoring attack led the Warriors (2-0, 1-0) to a win over the Crimson Knights (2-1, 1-1) that puts them in the driver's seat for another division title.

Pauwels won 13 of 17 face-offs, including going 6-for-6 in the first quarter when Manasquan jumped out to a 5-0 lead and limited Wall to only one possession that lasted under 30 seconds. Robert Pendergist, James Farinacci, Matt Porazzo, and Blake Gorski all finished with two goals and one assist, while Niland DiLucchio scored once. Carter Groezinger played the first half in goal and made one save and Nick Bounassi took over in the second half and made five saves.

John McCurry scored a game-high three goals for Wall while Matt Dollive scored twice and William Madden scored once.

Manasquan led 7-1 at halftime and 9-2 going into the fourth quarter before Wall mounted a four-goal run in the final 8:09 of the game.

 

St. Rose 12, Jackson Liberty 4

Senior midfielder Colin Westhoven was a force with four goals and two assists while also going 11-for-12 at the face-off X to lead the Purple Roses (2-0, 1-0) past the Lions (0-2, 0-1).

James Magrini scored three times and assisted on two other goals, Sean Lattimer tallied three goals and one assist, John Harold had a goal and three assists, and Dan Bair added a goal and an assist. Jimmy Loftus and Mike Conlon had one assist each. Chris DeVoy got the start in goal and made seven saves.

Paul Capozzi had three goals and one assist to lead Jackson Liberty. Reese Stewart scored once, Joshua Friedman and Billy Schuller had assists, and Matthew LaBianca made 19 saves.

 

Barnegat 13, Donovan Catholic 12

Aidan Reiser scored four goals and added two assists and Lucas Holland made 25 saves as the Bengals (2-1, 1-0) edged the Griffins (1-1, 0-1) in a divisional battle.

Bryan Snowden and Seth Freiwald each scored three goals while Luke Tortorici tallied two goals and two assists and Kurt Bonin had a goal and two assists.

Andrew Baltus led Donovan Catholic with four goals while Connor Durante had a goal and four assists and Randy Spurling totaled two goals and two assists. Jackson Ferlekas also scored twice, Peyton Calvetto added a goal and an assist, and Evan Roeber and Michael Poskay chipped in with one assist each.

 

Nonconference

Seton Hall Prep 8, No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven 7

The Bulldogs came up just short but showed they can play with any team in the state with a great showing against state No. 2 Seton Hall.

Junior midfielder Cole Cashion scored three times, junior attackman Quinn Stankovits totaled two goals and two assists, and seniors Christian Bockelmman and Tommy French each scored once. Andy Croddick had one assist.

Rumson led 5-4 at halftime before the Pirates pulled ahead, 6-5, with a two-goal third quarter. The teams each scored twice in the fourth quarter but Rumson was unable to find the equalizer.

Quinn Spillett had a hat trick for Seton Hall while Will Giarruso went 12-for-16 on face-offs and Jaz Zanelli made 12 saves.

 

East Brunswick 13, No. 6 Howell 9

It was an even game through three quarters until the Bears (1-1) broke the game open with a seven-goal fourth quarter to defeat the Rebels (1-1) in a nonconference game.

East Brunswick junior Ben Solimini was unstoppable with 11 points on seven goals and four assists and Steven Pepe won 14 of 20 faceoffs and picked up 15 ground balls.

Junior attackman Jack Marich had a hat trick and junior attackman Nate Lorenzo tallied two goals and three assists to lead the way for Howell. Senior midfielder Doug MacKenzie scored twice, senior midfielder Chris Calafiore scored once, and sophomore midfielder Ian McDow scored his first varsity goal. Freshman Vin Meehan registered his first varsity point with one assist while Tyler burns, Vin Burns, and Dax Kukan also had one assist. Senior goalie Colin Fay made nine saves.
