Class A North

No. 1 Marlboro 89, Manalapan 58

Senior Jack Seidler led four Marlboro players in double-figure scoring with 24 points and the Mustangs (3-0, 1-0) handled their third straight opponent to open the season, this time besting the Braves (0-2, 0-2) in their Class A North opener.

Senior Zach Molod added 15 points, senior Jon Spatola poured in 12 to go with five rebounds, three assists and three steals, and senior Vin Spatola contributed 10 points and five assists.

Senior Mike Cerreto led Manalapan with 16 points and classmate Gabe Blackwell chipped in 12 in the loss.

Howell 57, Long Branch 32

Senior Zach Emery scored 15 points to go with four steals and classmate Nick Gallo posted 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists to guide the Rebels (2-0, 1-0) to a win over the Green Wave (0-2, 0-1).

Senior Joe Dupuis also chipped in nine points, six rebounds and five assists for Howell.

No. 6 CBA 66, No. 7 Freehold Twp. 50

Junior Will Bradley scoring 16 points to lead another balanced scoring effort that helped the Colts (2-0, 1-0) pick up a road win over the Patriots (1-2, 1-1).

Senior Pat Lautato added 15 points, sophomore Peter Noble poured in 13 and junior Joe White netted 12 for CBA, which hit five three-pointers during a 23-11 second-quarter run.

Senior Josh Ibaretta led Freehold Township with 15 points and senior Sean Keegan added 12 in the loss.

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 84, Matawan 30

No. 2 Red Bank Catholic 60, Shore 32

Senior C.J. Ruoff led a balanced scoring effort with 11 points and the Caseys (3-0, 1-0) coasted to a win over the Blue Devils (1-1, 0-1).

Sophomores Gioacchino Panzini and Tyler Burnham each added 10 points and sophomore Zach Meeks added nine for Red Bank Catholic.

Sophomore Alex George led Shore with 10 points.

 

Class A South

Southern 59, No. 9 Central 55 (OT)

Senior Nick Devane buried a game-tying three-pointer with five seconds left in regulation and sophomore Caden Schubiger hit the go-ahead three with 1:07 left in overtime as the Rams (1-1, 1-1) rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to knock off the Golden Eagles (1-2, 0-1).

Devane finished with a team-high 19 points, senior Noah Schubiger added 16 points and five assists, and senior Jaden Anthony posted 15 points and seven assists for Southern. Caden Schubiger finished with six points, all of which came on two three-pointers.

Senior Justin Soranno led Central with a game-high 20 points while sophomore Miles Chevalier pitched in 13 in the loss.

 

Class B North

No. 8 St. John Vianney 46, Neptune 40

Senior Nate Williams poured in 26 points to go with six rebounds and six steals as the Lancers (3-0, 1-0) rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to upend the Scarlet Fliers (0-2, 0-1).

Senior Omar Calderon added 10 points and sophomore Dylan Seay hauled in 14 rebounds for St. John Vianney.

Freshman Andrew Petrick led Neptune with 12 points.

 

Class B Central

Keyport 79, Keansburg 39

Senior D.J. Thomson scored 28 points to lead the Red Raiders (1-0) past the rival Titans (0-1) for a win in their season-opener.

Senior George Mitchell added 14 points and senior Trevor Ahmed pitched in 10 for Keyport.

Junior Jaheim Hill led Keansburg with 14 points and senior Andrew Valle added 10 in the loss.

No. 3 Ranney 82, Asbury Park 48

Junior Isaac Hester scored a game-high 24 points and every Ranney (1-0, 1-0) starter contributed at least eight in a season-opening win over the Blue Bishops (0-1, 0-1). Hester also chipped in seven rebounds, four assists and three steals

Senior T.J. Braswell-Brown scored 14 of his 16 points in the first half, senior Brandon Klatsky chipped in 10 points, three assists and three steals, junior Zack Davis poured in nine points and senior Charles Anyichie contributed eight points, eight rebounds and four steals for Ranney.

Mater Dei Prep 80, Henry Hudson 37

Senior Jayden Cabrera scored a game-high 24 points and senior Anthony Tancredi scored 15 of his 19 in the first half as the Seraphs (1-1, 1-0) coasted to a win over the Admirals (1-1, 0-1).

Senior Demitrius Harvey led Henry Hudson with 18 points.

 

Class C North

No. 5 Manasquan 66, Monmouth 48

Freshman Darius Adams scored 22 points in the first half to go with three steals and the Warriors (2-1, 1-0) closed out the Falcons (1-1, 0-1).

Senior Matt Solomon added 13 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and three blocks, while sophomore Alex Konov chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds.

Senior Ryan Frauenheim and freshman Griffin Linstra each added nine points, with Frauenheim dishing out seven assists and Linstra grabbing seven rebounds.

Senior Aiden Denton led Monmouth with 16 points and classmate Kevin Telesford added 10.

 

Non-Division

Jackson Liberty 64, Lakewood 41

Senior Dahkareo Pritchett scored a game-high 16 points and connected on four three-pointers as the Lions (2-1) bounced back from a Monday loss at St. Rose by taking down the Piners (0-3).

Toms River North 64, Red Bank 53

Senior Lamir Mitchell led a balanced offensive attack with 14 points and the Mariners topped the Bucs to pick up their first win of 2021-22.

Junior Delani Hyde added 12 points, senior Ryan Baker poured in nine and senior A.J. Emnace and sophomore Micah Ford each chipped in eight for Toms River North.

Junior Nick Valentino led Red Bank with a game-high 26 points.

 

Non-Conference

Point Boro 46, Bridgewater-Raritan 44 (OT)

Junior Stephen Mellett scored a game-high 22 points and the road Panthers (1-0) outlasted the host Panthers (2-1) to win their season-opener.

Senior Matt Lee and junior Noah Knauf each added eight points in the Point Boro win.
