Class A South

No. 9 Brick Memorial 55, Toms River East 45

Senior Josh Michigan scored a game-high 22 points and the Mustangs (3-0, 2-0) held off a sizable rally by the Raiders (0-4, 0-2) to hold on for their third straight win to open the season.

Seniors Dylan Russell and Manny Vargas each scored 12 points to lead Toms River East, which cut a 22-point second-half deficit to six with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter. Russell also grabbed 11 rebounds and Vargas handed out five assists.

Senior Jacob Mathus also added 10 points for Toms River East.

 

Class B Central

Asbury Park 74, Henry Hudson 70

Senior Davon Foster scored a game-high 31 points and the Blue Bishops (1-2, 1-1) held off the Admirals (2-2, 0-2) for their first win of the season.

Senior Sha'born Goodman added 18 points and senior Jai'Sun Brown pitched in 14 for Asbury Park.

Sophomore Jack Fitzpatrick led Henry Hudson with 21 points, while seniors Luke Jaccodine and Jax Ross each poured in 19 in the loss.

 

Class B South

Central 64, Manchester 33

Junior Miles Chevalier scored a game-high 25 points as the Golden Eagles (3-0, 2-0) cruised to a home win over the defending B South champion Hawks (1-2, 1-1).

Sophomore Jaycen Santucci added 19 points and three steals, senior Carlos Medina-Farres posted six points and eight rebounds, and senior John Truhan dished out eight assists to go with his five points for Central.

Senior Eli Casalan led Manchester with 12 points and junior Josh Love added eight in the loss.

 

Class C North

Point Boro 67, No. 8 Ranney 64

Junior Jake Venturoso buried five three-pointers on the way to a career-high 24 points as the Panthers (4-0, 2-0) knocked off Ranney (0-3, 0-2) for a key division win at home.

Senior Shane Ryan added 16 points and went 5-for-5 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter -- part of an 11-for-11 performance by Point Boro in the final eight minutes that helped close out the win.

Senior Stephen Mellett also poured in 13 points, including the go-ahead three-pointer that put Point Boro up 57-56 with 1:40 left -- a lead the host Panthers would not give up. Senior Noah Knauf also scored nine points in the Point Boro win.

Senior Isaac Hester led Ranney with a game-high 34 points while junior Drew Buck added 18 in the loss.
