CLASS A CENTRAL

No. 5 Rumson-Fair Haven 42, Monmouth 0

Senior quarterback Mike O'Connor ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to sophomore Ian O'Connor, while the defense recorded its fourth shutout to lead the Bulldogs (5-2, 5-1) past the Falcons (2-6, 1-4).

Sophomore fullback Alex Maldjian, senior running back Matt Vecchiarelli and junior running back Peter Lucas added touchdown runs for Rumson.

 

CLASS B CENTRAL

Keyport 21, Keansburg 15

Sophomore Greg Robinson scored on two short rushing touchdowns and Chris Hogrefe threw a touchdown pass to Joey Kay-Flagg as the Red Raiders (7-1, 3-1) topped the rival Titans (2-6, 0-4) for their fifth straight win.

Junior quarterback Danny Vital had a touchdown run and a touchdown pass for Keansburg.

 

CLASS B SOUTH

Lakewood 24, Barnegat 17

 

NONDIVISIONAL

No. 6 Manasquan 29, Matawan 14

Senior quarterback Jerry Maher tossed a pair of touchdown passes and the Warriors (6-1) rallied past the Huskies (1-7) with 29 points in the second half.

Maher threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver James Pendergist and a 50-yard strike to senior tight end Adam Schreck in the fourth quarter. Sophomore running back Canyon Birch ran for a 1-yard touchdown and junior Evan Hilla blocked a punt and then recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown.

 

Marlboro 42, Toms River East 21

Senior running back Cameron Caorsi returned after missing three games with an injury, and he and junior Jonny Helff each ran for over 100 yards and two touchdowns to fuel the Mustangs (3-5) in their win over the Raiders (0-8).

Caorsi scored on his first touch, taking a hand-off 51 yard to the end zone.

Evan Otten ran for over 100 yards and scored all three touchdowns for Toms River East.

 

NONCONFERENCE

No. 2 Manalapan 21, Piscataway 10

The Braves (8-0) rallied from a 10-point deficit with 21 second-half points to defeat the Chiefs and lock up the No. 1 seed in Central Jersey Group V with a nonconference win at Rutgers.

Junior running back Naim Mayfield ran for 172 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, including the go-ahead score on an 8-yard touchdown run with 4:25 left in the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Luke Corcione threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to junior fullback Chris Maksimik and senior defensive back Sean Kinniburgh returned an interception 61 yards for a touchdown with 25 seconds left to seal the win.

Junior linebacker Sal Tardogno had a game-high nine tackles and came up with a fumble recovery on fourth down that led to Manalapan's drive to take the lead. Joe Ciraola had four tackles, including a sack and a tackle for a loss.

Senior running back Elijah Barnwell ran for 148 yards and scored on a 14-yard screen pass from quarterback Dan Haus to lead Piscataway (5-2). Michael Staleynj kicked a 35-yard field goal.

 

No. 10 Mater Dei Prep 41, South River 0

Senior Eddie Lewis caught a 21-yard touchdown pass and returned a punt 45 yards for a touchdown, while the defense recorded its third shutout of the season to power the Seraphs (8-0) past the Rams (2-6).

Junior quarterback George Pearson threw for 96 yards and ran for 63. Andrew Spann recovered a blocked punt in the end zone, Marvin Pierre had a 10-yard touchdown run and Sincere Sanders two touchdown runs as Mater Dei led 41-0 at halftime.

 

Colts Neck 28, Monroe 21

Senior running back Carmen Catena ran for 126 yards and 3 touchdowns on 20 carries as the Cougars (2-6) snapped a three-game losing streak by downing the Falcons (0-8).

Senior quarterback Joey Lombardo completed 5 of 8 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown, connecting with senior C.J. Lea on an 80-yard touchdown pass. Junior Derek Victory and senior Vinnie Gargiulo each made a game-high 14 tackles. Gargiulo added a sack and a fumble recovery and Victory had a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
