CLASS A NORTH

No. 3 Manalapan 14, Freehold 0

Junior quarterback Luke Corcione threw two touchdown passes and the defense recorded its third straight shutout as the Braves (4-0, 2-0) blanked the Colonials (0-4, 0-4).

Corcione connected with junior Symir Blacknall for a 27-yard touchdown in the first quarter and tossed a 20-yard score to senior Mike Taylor in the fourth quarter. Corcione completed 10 of 19 passes for 191 yards. Junior running back Naim Mayfield ran for 125 yards on 19 carries. Scott Scherzer had a team-high four receptions for 43 yards.

 

Colts Neck 28, Marlboro 20

Carmen Catena ran for 252 yards and scored on touchdown runs of 83, 5 and 35 yards as the Cougars (1-3, 1-2) took down the rival Mustangs (1-3, 0-3) to pick up their first win of the season. Quarterback Hayden Volk added a short touchdown run as Colts Neck rallied from a 14-8 halftime deficit.

Senior running back Cameron Caorsi, who entered the week as the Shore Conference's leading rusher, ran for 151 yards and had touchdown runs of eight and 66 yards. Quarterback Jared Wright threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to Justin Marcus.

 

CLASS B SOUTH

Lacey 34, Jackson Liberty 0

Christian Morales returned the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to set the tone as the Lions (3-1, 2-1) opened up an early three-score lead on their way to blanking Jackson Liberty (0-4, 0-3).

Jason Giresi and Coelton Klaus added rushing touchdowns in the first quarter and Giresi scored again in the second quarter for a 27-0 Lacey advantage. Chase Stephensen threw a touchdown pass to Tanner Miick on a wide receiver reverse pass in the third quarter to cap the scoring.

 

NONDIVISIONAL

Point Boro 42, Monmouth 0

Junior quarterback James Fara ran for 146 yards and three touchdowns to lead a Panthers ground attack that rumbled for 405 yards, while the defense allowed just 83 total yards and forced five turnovers in a shutout win over the Falcons (2-3).

Junior fullback Tanner Gordon ran for 83 yards and a score, senior wide receiver Hayden Frey scored on a 56-yard reverse and junior Jarrett Howey added a late touchdown. Junior running back Brandon Cipriano added 84 yards on three carries.

Frey and sophomore Kyle Komanitsky had interceptions. Senior linebacker Justin Rafi, junior linebacker Ronnie Leyda and senior nose guard Aidan Connolly each had fumble recoveries.

 

NONCONFERENCE

Keyport 42, South River 12

The Red Raiders (3-1) ripped off 42 straight points after falling behind early to down the Rams (1-3).

Rayquan Brown returned a punt for a touchdown, Chris Hogrefe tossed a touchdown pass to Cody Young and Devin Wallner, Shykim Treadwell, Jay Hansen and Greg Robinson each had touchdown runs.

Keyport's defense held South River to 170 total yards.

 

Point Beach 34, Middlesex 13

Junior quarterback Luke Frauenheim threw four touchdown passes and ran for another to lead the Garnet Gulls (2-2) past the Blue Jays (0-4).

Frauenheim ran for a three-yard touchdown, threw a 27-yard touchdown to Ryan Sloan and added a 23-yard touchdown to Declan Conway to help Point Beach build a 21-0 halftime lead.
