Sadiq Palmer, Charlie Volker and More Shore Football Alumni Shine
As we watch this Shore Conference football season unfold, there are plenty of former Shore stars doing their thing at the next level.
Here is a round-up of strong performances by Shore football grads from Saturday's action across the college football spectrum, from FBS to Division III. I kept it to players who made an impact during the game, so if they only had one tackle or a single catch or something like that, I did not include them here because it would be an endless list.
If I missed anyone, feel free to email me at stump@allshoremedia.com and I will update it.
---UMass nearly shocked an SEC team, Mississippi State, in a wild 47-35 loss, and two former Shore stars played a big role for the Minutemen. True freshman wide receiver Sadiq Palmer (Red Bank) caught his first collegiate touchdown pass, a 19-yard strike in the fourth quarter for his only catch of the game. The UMass kicker is Mike Caggiano (Manalapan), who went 5-for-5 on extra points in the loss.
---Princeton lost 42-28 to Lehigh, but it was a career day for Rumson-Fair Haven's all-time leading rusher. Sophomore running back Charlie Volker had a career-high 82 yards rushing on 13 carries and scored three touchdowns in the loss. He also had 4 catches for 16 yards. Also, helping to clear the way for Volker up front was freshman Reily Radosevich (Manalapan), who started at right tackle.
