Rogers, McCarthy Help Middletown South Roll in Season Opener

The Eagles (1-0, 1-0) rolled to a win over the Mustangs (0-1, 0-1) in the opener as junior running back Cole Rogers had touchdown runs of 20, 7, and 3 yards, and sophomore running back James McCarthy added touchdown runs of 50 and 5 yards to help Middletown South build a 49-0 lead by halftime. Head coach Steve Antonucci picked up his 150th win in the first game of his 16th season with the Eagles.
Joe Timmins added a 30-yard touchdown run, Tom Coffey had a 3-yard scoring run, and Samson Dube added a 12-yard touchdown in the win. The defense limited Marlboro to one first down in the first half, and that came via penalty, holding the Mustangs to minus-12 total yards before the break.
