Coming off two very successful seasons Monmouth University and Head Men’s Basketball Coach King Rice have agreed on a new five-year contract that will keep Rice in West Long Branch through the 2021-22 season. Monmouth Vice President/Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil made the announcement today and added that the university “is grateful for King Rice’s continued commitment to the Hawks. His leadership in moving the program to the upper echelon of MAAC basketball is rewarded by this extension and we look forward to much future success.”

Rice has guided Monmouth to a 55-15 record over the past two seasons and was named MAAC Coach of the Year in both. Overall he is 106-92 and has been successful off the court as he and his staff have graduated 21 of 21 seniors since taking over in 2011. He expressed excitement about staying at Monmouth for five more years and added “when I got here I knew I was so fortunate and so blessed to be the coach here and after six years, to re-sign for five more means a lot to me and my family.”

Rice will begin his 7th season with the Hawks when they face Bucknell on November 10 at the OceanFirst Bank Center.
