Raritan’s Zach Reilley from Hazlet, NJ is the Elite Sports PT Shore Conference Wrestler of the Week
Every week this wrestling season, Shore Conference fans will have the chance to vote for the Elite Sports Physical Therapy Wrestler of the Week on our website and decide which local standout should earn the weekly honor.
The winner of the Week 1 Wrestler of the Week poll is Raritan freshman Zach Reilley, who had a perfect start to his high school career, which included a win over a district medalist.
Wrestling at 126 pounds, Reilley opened the season by defeating Ocean Township's two-time district medalist Gio Poniros, 13-9. He then added a 24-9 technical fall victory over Rumson-Fair Haven's Patrick Simpson and a 16-1 technical fall victory in just 2:30 over Nutley's Connor Harlow to complete a 3-0 week.
Raritan has one of its youngest teams in recent years but with Reilley and some other promising underclassmen in the fold, the Rockets will look to rebuild on the fly and remain a contender for division, state sectional and district titles in the years to come.
Reilley was the runaway winner of the season's first poll with over half of all votes cast.
