Infuriating Encounter With Taxi Driver Shows How Chaotic The World Is Today
The things you encounter while utilizing public transportation: mind blowing.
Some stories are hilarious. This one is not.
At this point, I am going to assume you have heard of all the transportation applications out there like Uber, Lyft, Easy Taxi or Meru Cabs.
(Who knew hailing down a taxi would ever be considered the old-fashioned way?)
If you are not familiar, the premise is simple: you order and pay for a car using your cellphone that will pick you up at your current location.
That care will then drop you off wherever your heart desires. The farther the ride, the more expensive the trip.
Last weekend, I took Carolina to a friend's house so she could run around in the backyard. We used one of these transportation services to get there with no issue.
However, there was a problem when it was time to go home.
I ordered a car home and waited outside with my friend until it arrived.
The guy pulls up: "Are you travelling with your dog?!"
"Yes I am," I said.
"Oh no. Absolutely not. She will go crazy. No way," the driver yelled.
"Okay. No problem," I responded.
Whenever a driver is uncomfortable with having a dog in their car, I honor that and just order a new car. It really is not that big of a deal to me. But this guy kept wanting to fight about it. "Sir, it is fine. I'll order another car but I am not gonna argue with you."
He pulls away.
A few minutes later, he calls me so I answered.
"Hey. This is the driver that just left. You can bring your dog but only if you put her in the trunk," he said.
My jaw fell to the floor.
I had a few glasses of wine and my filter was barely existent.
"In the trunk, are you kidding me?! You know it is not a ventilated area of the car so she could literally suffocate to death! What do you think she is going to do?! No one demanded you take her so how dare you!"
I have already reported this driver.
I was fuming!
If I have to tell you not to put your dog in the trunk, you probably shouldn't have a dog.
But this driver....SHEESH....
Maybe, he has a fear of dogs. Maybe, he had an awful day.
But nothing excuses this behavior in my book. And I seriously hope all animal owners out there reading this are thinking, "I would never do that to my pet."
The fact that we have people out there who think that this would have been okay is proof that the world is broken right now.
Kindness. Empathy. Respect.
All of these are possible, even if you disagree with someone.
