Senior attackman Andrew Porretta poured in three goals and three assists and senior midfielder Ryan Gilfillan notched three goals and one assist as sixth-seeded St. John Vianney built a three-goal halftime lead and held off No. 11 Jackson Memorial, 8-7,  in the first round of the Shore Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon

Freshmen midfielders Matt Franzoni and Anthony Brett each scored once and sophomore goalie C.J. Hanson made six saves for the Lancers (9-7).

St. John Vianney will host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday after 14th-seeded St. Rose shocked third-seeded Southern, 8-7. The Lancers have never reached the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals.

Senior attackman Dakota Neron had two goals and one assist and senior attackman John Chitren and freshman midfielder Aaron Hutchinson scored two goals apiece for Jackson (9-5). Sophomore attackman Santo Porazzo scored once and Yael Bonilla made seven saves.

Jackson played without senior starting goalie Dylan Furnback, who suffered a season-ending injury in the Jaguars’ loss to Brick Memorial last week.
