Every week this regular season, Shore Conference football fans will have their chance to vote for the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey/Shore Sports Network Football Player of the Week on our website, with over 100,000 votes cast so far this season.

The winner of the Week 6 readers’ vote for the Shore Conference Football Player of the Week is Point Boro senior running back Tanner Gordon, who rumbled for 193 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead touchdown late in regulation, to key a thrilling 35-28 comeback victory over Lakewood.

Gordon had a 53-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to pull the Panthers to within 20-14 after Lakewood had run out to a 20-0 lead. His 25-yard touchdown run with 38 seconds left in regulation completed the stunning comeback as Point Boro scored two touchdowns in the final two minutes to remain undefeated at 6-0.

Gordon’s 193 yards in Week 6 are a season high, and he now has 420 yards rushing and four touchdowns in four games this season [he missed Weeks 2 and 3 with an injury].
