Manasquan 16, Freehold Township 5

Junior attackman Jarrett Birch scored three goals and added five assists, and freshman attackman Canyon Birch opened his high school career with a four-goal, two-assist performance as the Warriors cruised to victory over the host Patriots.

Manasquan opened a 5-0 lead after the first quarter and led 11-1 at halftime. The Warriors took a 15-2 lead into the fourth quarter. Junior midfielder John Moran scored three times and senior midfielder Paul Krueger and freshman midfielder James Pendergist each scored twice. Junior midfielder Devan Carroll had a goal and two assists. Senior goalie Tom Pollack and freshman goalie Mike LaPoint each made four saves.

Junior attackman Josh Nastarowicz scored three goals and junior attackman Drew Dunn had two assists for Freehold Township.

 

Lacey 8, Point Boro 5

Sophomore attackman JoeCarlo Chimenti scored a game-high four goals and senior midfielder Ryan Mahon added two goals and two assists as the Lions opened a 7-2 halftime lead en route to downing the Panthers. Junior midfielder Connor Wilson had a goal and two assists and senior attackman Tom Campbell also scored. Senior goalie Mike Trezza made seven saves.

Senior Matt Schwartz led Point Boro with two goals and one assist and senior Courtland Hackel had two goals.

 

Red Bank Catholic 14, Marlboro 6

Senior midfielder Liam McArdle exploded for four goals and five assists and senior attackman Alec Mintz had five goals and three assists as the Caseys gave head coach Frank Finochio his first win at Red Bank Catholic.

Senior Brett Habich had two goals and one assist and junior Dylan Fallis also scored twice. Sophomore face-off midfielder James Mele had 10 ground balls while winning 11 of 18 face-offs and also scoring a goal. Senior goalie Matt Benjamin made 15 saves.

 

Ocean 17, Neptune 1

Senior midfielder Erik Rant and senior attackman Joey Appio each scored four goals and dished out five assists to fuel the Spartans' goal-scoring barrage against the Scarlet Fliers. Senior Connor Daly and junior Sam Hanna each scored three goals and had two assists. Freshman Mike Nies scored twice and junior Cole Conti had a goal and an assist.

Hanna and Rant each had five ground balls, senior Alex Bravo won 7 of 13 face-offs and also had an assist, and junior goalie David Walk make six saves.

 

Jackson Liberty 21, Long Branch 0

Senior Tyler Kalmowitz scored four goals and added two assists and Walter Matthies had three goals and one assist as the Lions blanked the Green Wave. Dylan O'Connor and Randy Vengen each had two goals and one assist.

Gavin Ferullo, David Jarrett, Max Matthies and Christian Pongracz also scored twice. Pongracz added a game-high nine ground balls. Senior goalie Chris Mulholland needed to make just one save to earn the shutout.

 

Toms River North 13, Shore 12 (OT)

Josh Francis scored off a pass from Andrew Lombardi two minutes into the overtime period to give the host Mariners the win over the Blue Devils. Francis had two goals and three assists while Lombardi had had a team-high six points with four goals and two assists. A.J. Alvarez also scored four goals and Ryan Clancy had tallied three times for Toms River North.

Shore senior midfielder Doug Goldsmith, a University of Albany signee, led all scorers with five goals and three assists while also picking up seven ground balls. Gil Goldsmith had two goals and an assist and Ean Delehanty also scored twice. Jack Brignola made seven saves in goal.

 

Donovan Catholic 9, Toms River East 8 (OT)

 

Nonconference

Brick Memorial 18, North Brunswick 1

Juniors Mike Mowder and Adam Plumacher scored twice with one assist and senior Billy Porter had a goal and two assists to power the Mustangs past the Raiders. Porter and sophomore Mike Ferrara each had a game-high five ground balls.

Vincent Spinelli, Jake Murphy and Zak Morton also scored twice and Henry Moran had a goal and an assist. Senior Chris Sayers made three saves and did not allow a goal.

 

Southern 11, Oakcrest 4

Junior midfielder Will Johnson scored four goals, senior midfielder James Manzo had three goals and one assist and junior attackman Kyle Mulrane scored two goals and had three assists to lead the Rams. Senior midfielder Jon Manzo added a goal and two assists and junior goalie Tristan Farina made eight saves.

Southern led in shots, 32-26.

 

St. Joseph (Metuchen) 12, CBA 7

Senior midfielder Andrew Rooney scored twice and had one assist, and junior attackman Nick Casner had a goal and two assists for the Colts in a road loss. Sophomore attackman Mike Carroll scored twice and junior goalie Ryan McGuiness made 11 saves.

 

Robbinsville 7, Howell 5

Junior defenseman Drew Bukowiec scored twice and senior midfielder Nic Rossi had a goal and an assist for the Rebels. Sophomore goalie Nick Roberto made 14 saves.

 

Old Bridge 12, Red Bank 3

Brian Fagan scored three times and Jon Pierce made 17 saves in defeat for the Bucs.

 

Monroe 14, Colts Neck 1
