Senior Jake Visco scored a goal in each half and the Patriots handled the Mustangs to advance to the sectional semifinals Wednesday at home against No. 15 South Brunswick.

Senior Aidan Englander opened the scoring with a goal in the 22nd minute off a pass from junior Victor Torres. Visco then finished a feed from senior Tyler Santos in the 31st to send Freehold Township into halftime with a two-goal lead.

(15) South Brunswick 2, (7) Long Branch 0

A red card forced Long Branch to play a man down and without starting goalkeeper Chris Lazo for the final 60 minutes and a missed penalty kick in the 75th doomed the Green Wave in a loss to the suddenly-surging Vikings.

Aidan Chang got South Brunswick out to a 1-0 lead five minutes into the match, when Long Branch was still at even strength. After Long Branch failed to convert a potential game-tying penalty kick in the 75th, Payton Brantley added a second goal for South Brunswick to put the game away in the 78th minute.

According to Long Branch coach Adrian Castro, the red card was issued to Lazo for language.

Farkas broke a scoreless tie in the 57th minute, slamming in a shot off a flicked header from sophomore Griffin Linstra. The freshman added a second goal in the 70th off a feed from senior Aidan Sugrue, who later capped the scoring with a penalty kick in the 79th minute.

(2) Holmdel 2, (7) Rumson-Fair Haven 0

Junior David Weiner assisted a goal by senior Colin Byrnes a minute into the match and added a penalty kick midway through the second half as the Hornets exacted their revenge on the Bulldogs in a rematch of last year's Central Jersey Group II final.

Byrnes then drew a foul at outer edge of the penalty box and Weiner stepped up and finished the ensuing penalty kick for a 2-0 Holmdel lead in the 61st minute.
