Senior Charlie Rudderow hit a tie-breaking solo home run in the bottom of the fifth for the last of Jackson Liberty's four home runs and the Lions out-slugged the Mustangs to advance to the OCT semifinal Saturday against No. 14 seed Southern.
The two teams combined for seven home runs - all of which came in the first five innings. Sophomore Max Cala hit two as part of a five-hit, seven-RBI outburst, including a three-run shot in the first to open the scoring.
Jackson Liberty came back with four runs in the bottom of the first, beginning with a leadoff home run by senior Connor Keenan. Junior Brandon Kinsman tied the game with a two-run double and senior Alex Torres followed right behind him with an RBI double to give Jackson Liberty its first lead.
Brick Memorial swung right back with four runs in the top of the second. Senior Greg Hanlon tied the game with an RBI single and Cala knocked in his fourth run with an RBI single to put the Mustangs ahead, 5-4. Junior Lucas McLaughlin then belted a two-run home run to stretch the Brick Memorial lead to 7-4.
Senior Scott Wierciszewski pulled Jackson Liberty even again with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the second - a three-run blast to tie the game at 7-7.
Winning pitcher Shane Hickey worked a scoreless third to quiet the Mustangs bats and senior catcher David Melfi gave Jackson Liberty the lead back with a two-run homer that made the score 9-7.
Brick Memorial got to Hickey in the third when Cala launched his second home run of the game - a three-run jack that catapulted the Mustangs back into the lead, 10-9.
Jackson Liberty pulled even in the bottom of the fourth on a two-out RBI single by sophomore Dan Keenan. One inning later, Rudderow connected for the go-ahead homer and Hickey closed out the win with scoreless frames in the fifth, sixth and seventh.

Junior Tommy Jensen belted two home runs and drove in five as the Panthers (10-6, 7-5) closed out their B Central schedule with resounding win over the Admirals (5-9, 4-8).

Seniors Jackson Hercek and Dan Hirujo combined on a four-hit shutout and the Huskies blanked the Red Raiders. Hercek struck out seven, walked none and allowed three hits in three innings of work before Hirujo came on for four one-hit frames and picked up the win.
Junior Ryan Anderson led Matawan's offense by going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while juniors Jay Kalieta and Ben Porricelli each finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Michael Vargas lasted four innings and took the loss for Keyport.
No. 9 Ocean 3, Donovan Catholic 2
Sophomore Kevin Novobilsky was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh to force home the winning run and the Spartans topped the Griffins in walk-off fashion.
Senior Ryan Toomey belted a two-run home run to open the scoring in the bottom of the fifth before junior Christian McElroy answered with a two-run single to tie it in the sixth.

Senior Mike Schiatarella drove in three runs and three of his teammates drove in two each to lead the Rams (7-10) past the Mustangs (8-10).
Schiatarella finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI. Sophomore Kevin Cooney was 2-for-2 with two RBI, senior Frankie Pellegrino was 1-for-3 with two RBI and sophomore Xavier Hendricks finished 1-for-5 with two RBI. Senior Cole Markley also went 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Sophomore Jack Plesniarski grabbed the win on the mound with four innings of worked, followed by three from Hendricks.
Junior Ramon Fontanes went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI to lead Marlboro and senior Justin Kapuscinski also added a two-run home run. Freshman Tyler Villa took the loss on the mound.
Manchester 4, Brick 3
Sophomore Jacob Tafrow singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning and the Hawks (7-13) walked off with a win over the Green Dragons (8-11).
Senior Dom Racioppi and Tafrow each finished 1-for-3 with an RBI while junior Evan Scala was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Senior Markel Hourigan and junior James Johns each doubled as well.
Junior Brandon Kiddie earned the win in relief of starter Jacob Roberts, who allowed two runs over six innings with four strikeouts and no walks.
Brick scored a run each in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings, with junior Cole Groschel singling home the tying run in the top of the seventh. Dan Scheri doubled home Brick's first run while John Wade and Rob Page each went 2-for-3 in the loss, with Wade also doubling.
Sophomore Ethan Gonzalez struck out 10 over six innings in taking the no-decision for Brick.
No. 8 Wall 14, Toms River North 1 (5 Innings)
Junior Teddy Sharkey pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and cracked a three-run home run to lead the Crimson Knights (16-3) to a one-sided win over the Mariners (13-8). Sophomore Jay Bant also belted a two-run home run for Wall.

Senior Alex Iadisernia hit a go-ahead grand slam in a big six-run fourth inning and later hit the go-ahead RBI single in a game-clinching, four-run sixth as the Jaguars handed the Bees just their second loss of the season in winning a battle of top-10 teams in N.J.
Bayonne raced out to a 7-2 lead thanks to a wave of Jackson Memorial defensive miscues, but Iadisernia propelled the Jaguars in front with a grand slam to cap the six-run inning and give his team an 8-7 lead.
Sophomore Ty Beck was a perfect 4-for-4 and gave Jackson Memorial some insurance with a two-run single that capped the sixth-inning scoring.
