Monmouth University Begins Work On New Stadium
Monday morning, bulldozers began clearing ground behind Kessler Field, the current 23-year-old football stadium.
Plans call for concrete footings to be installed throughout the fall, with the original structure being torn down completely after the conclusion of the 2016 home football schedule. Monmouth’s final home game is on October 29, 2016 against Kennesaw State.
The state-of-the-art facility is scheduled to open for the first home game of the 2017 football season. The stadium will be the home field for Monmouth’s men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, men’s and women’s lacrosse and football teams.
The project will add over 4,000 seats, including more than 800 chairbacks enclosed in a brick facade. The new structure's footprint will stretch from endzone to endzone, and include new ticket booths, an exclusive Blue/White Club deck, a full service press box, new concession areas, and new restrooms.
