Monmouth & Townsquare Media Renew Radio Partnership
The Monmouth University Department of Athletics has reached a two-year contract extension with Townsquare Media to broadcast all Hawks' road football and men's basketball games, as well as select home games, on The Shore Sports Network, 1160 WOBM AM and 1310 AM, as well as ShoreSportsNetwork.com PARand through the free Shore Sports Network app, through the 2019-20 season.
"We look forward to continuing the relationship with our great radio broadcast partners," said Monmouth University Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Marilyn McNeil. "The first-class exposure our student-athletes receive through this partnership is something I know many of our fans appreciate, and we're excited to continue to provide access to the Monmouth family and friends."
This will mark the 10th and eighth consecutive years, respectively, that Monmouth Football and Men's Basketball will be broadcast along the airwaves of The Shore Sports Network.
"This is truly an exciting time to partner with the Monmouth University Athletics Department and Townsquare Media is delighted to continue our long relationship with this contract extension," added Kevin Williams, Director of the Shore Sports Network. "Coming off a great football season in a new stadium and with the rise of the Hawks' basketball program, we are thrilled to be able to bring the excitement of MU sports to alumni and fans when their team is away from home."
A trio of Monmouth University alums will continue to call the action for the Hawks, as Eddy Occhipinti '06, Matt Harmon '96 and Steve Bazaz '07 return to the broadcasts. Harmon, a former MU football player, serves as the play-by-play voice of Monmouth University Football, while Occhipinti supplies the color analysis for the action on the gridiron. During basketball season, Occhipinti voices the play-by-play action while Bazaz, a former Hawks' hoops player, serves as the primary analyst with Harmon assisting in both roles.
Monmouth's broadcast season on The Shore Sports Network begins when the Hawks visit Eastern Michigan, their third FBS opponent, to kick off the 2018 football season on Friday, August 31 at 6:30pm. Live pregame coverage from Ypsilanti begins at 6:15 pm.
