Meet The First Lady Of Soccer On Saturday
One of the greatest athletes in Jersey Shore history and one of the most celebrated soccer figures across the country will kick off a series of fan appreciation days being hosted by Peter Grandich and Company in their Spring Lake offices on Saturday. Christie Pearce Rampone will highlight “Monmouth University Fan Appreciation Day” from 1-3pm, an event that will also include an appearance by Hawks mascot “Shadow” at the offices of Peter Grandich and Company at 219 Morris Avenue.
Pearce was a multiple sport star at both Point Pleasant Borough High School and Monmouth University and the list of her accomplishments and accolades is a lengthy one. Her tenure in West Long Branch not only saw her named Northeast Conference Player of the Year twice in soccer but also shine in basketball and lacrosse. As a senior she focused on soccer and also trained and traveled with the US Women’s National Team and after graduation became a mainstay on the squad where she would spend 18 years (1997-2015) in addition to playing in several pro leagues.
Pearce appeared in five FIFA Women’s World Cup finals and four Olympic Games during her career and was captain of the US team that lost in the World Cup finals in 2011 and won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Fans of all ages are invited to attend this free event in Spring Lake and bring up to three items to be autographed plus take pictures with Christie. There will also be free door prizes for a jersey, autographed soccer ball and special 16x20 picture.
