Season Summary
Larson Ford is the only team in the JSBL this season that has used the services of a player who has played minutes in the NBA – a distinction held by former Laker reserve Derrick Caracter. The team also boasts former Mater Dei Prep standout Kenny Jones, Monmouth duo Myles Ruth and Jarvis Vaughan, scoring machine Jaheim Tanksley and Bergen Catholic rising junior Terry Copeland.
Jaheim Tanksley got Larson got off to a strong start with a 40-point game in a season-opening win over Assistive Choices Inc., then scored 35 in a win over Sea Shore Auto to run Larson’s record to 2-1. Tanksley then scored 35 and 40 over the next two games – losses to RKE Athletic and the WCT Warriors.
Larson suffered a third straight loss despite the debut of Nate Pierre-Louis, who spent time on the Lakers NBA Summer League team and scored 50 points in his first JSBL game. It was no match for fellow Summer League teammate R.J. Cole, who put up 40 in a win for Orthopaedic Institute.
Pierre-Louis followed his debut up with 34 points to go with 33 from Jachai Simmons in a win over Sea View Jeep to close out the regular season.
Larson Ford is set up as the No. 6 seed and will take on Sea Shore Auto in the opening round of the playoffs on Thursday night in Manasquan.
