A year ago they shared a division title but when Brick Memorial visits Central Regional Friday night it will be a matchup of teams who are no longer division rivals.  Regardless it shapes up as an important season-opener for both and will be the Jersey Mike’s Game of the Week on 92.7 WOBM and shoresportsnetwork.com.

The visiting Mustangs find themselves in the Colonial Division as part of the Shore Conference Football Realignment while the Golden Eagles have been placed in the American Division.  Both are coming off 7-3 seasons in 2017 but suffered significant losses due to graduation.  Brick Memorial has to replace standouts like Tony Thorpe, Blaine Netterman, Grant McKelvey and Willie Garner while Central has to find a way to fill the losses of Ryan Emmets, Neil Harrington, Brandon Voss and Blake Horgan to go along with the transfer of 1,400-yard rusher Kavon Chambers to St. John Vianney.

The good news for both teams is there are quality players returning.  Coach Walt Currie’s Mustangs boast quarterback Tyler Sindel, RB/Safety Ja Billingsley, Kyle McBride (OT/LB) and two-way lineman Jamison Whaley.  Central coach Justin Fumando is counting on production from Darius Martorano (WR/CB), transfer running back Jamar Lively, linebacker Jadyn Harris, and defensive end Troy Warren.

Kickoff from Joseph J. Boyd Field is 7 p.m. and the game can be heard live on 92.7 WOBM while a live video stream on shoresportsnetwork.com.

Friday Night Football is presented by Jersey Mike’s…”be a sub above” and powered by Toyota World of Lakewood.

Watch live beginning Friday at 6:50 p.m.:
