Every week this fall, Jersey Mike’s and Shore Sports Network will be selecting a Team of the Week based on its performance over the past weekend.

The Jersey Mike’s Team of the Week for Week 3 is Keansburg, which staged an incredible fourth-quarter comeback with three touchdowns in the final five minutes to defeat Asbury Park, 22-16, and start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2007. Shore Sports Network was at practice Tuesday to present the Titans and head coach John Bird with a special game ball and a $500 Jersey Mike’s gift card.

Asbury Park led 8-0 at halftime and took a 16-0 lead in the third quarter before Keansburg began to mount its comeback. With 4:44 left in the game, junior quarterback Mikal Braithwaite threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Kycir Robinson. The 2-point conversion was not successful, but the Titans were on the board. Keansburg got the ball back quickly and cut its deficit to two points when Braithwaite connected with senior wide receiver Brandan Flanzbaum for an 8-yard touchdown and Connor Graf tossed the 2-point conversion pass to Desmond Lawson with 3:24 left. The Titans completed the comeback when Braithwaite scampered for a 6-yard touchdown run with 38 seconds remaining and then threw the 2-point conversion pass to Robinson.

Braithwaite finished with 141 yards passing and two touchdowns, 49 yards rushing and a touchdown, a 2-point conversion pass and a forced fumble on defense. Senior running back Patrick Beltran ran for 84 yards on 16 carries and also forced a fumble on defense. Robinson recorded six tackles with two tackles for loss and Graf had a team-high seven tackles and one sack.

Keansburg has not started a season 4-0 since 1996 and will try to do so against Bayshore rival Keyport on Saturday afternoon.
