Class A South

No. 9 Jackson Memorial 37, No. 7 Southern 30

Junior Mehki Cherry led the offense with 11 points and the Jaguars (14-4, 6-3) turned in a suffocating defensive performance that limited the Rams (11-6, 6-3) to two points in the fourth quarter, closing out a critical Class A South win at home for Jackson Memorial.

Seniors Samir Padilla and Respect Tyleek each added six points after sitting out the first quarter for disciplinary reasons, with Padilla also adding three assists and five steals and Tyleek contributing six rebounds, three assists and four steals as well.

Junior Caden Schubiger led Southern with a game-high 12 points.

Brick Memorial 55, Toms River South 46

Senior Josh Michigan poured in 23 points and the Mustangs (13-5, 6-3) dropped the Indians (5-14, 1-8) to keep their hopes of a Class A South title share alive.

Senior Dorian Alston added 13 points and classmate Brian Starrett chipped in 11 for Brick Memorial.

Junior Robert Peirson led Brick Memorial with 15 points and classmate Kai Barckley threw in 13 for the Indians.

No. 8 Toms River North 53, Toms River East 52

Junior Sherrod Nelson hit a pair of go-ahead free throws with seven seconds left and the Mariners (14-4, 7-2) survived an inspired second-half comeback by the Raiders (4-14, 1-8) to clinch no worse than a share of the Class A South championship.

Junior Owen Baker led Toms River North with 14 points and junior Micah Ford poured in 11 for the Mariners, who led by 11 points at halftime, but needed Nelson's clutch free throws in the final seconds to win the game.

Senior Dylan Russell posted a game-high 20 points to go with 10 rebounds, while junior Jason McKelvey added 10 points and six rebounds for Toms River East.

 

Class B Central

Keyport 65, Henry Hudson 47

Senior Terrek Mimes scored 20 points and the Red Raiders (12-3, 6-1) topped the Admirals (8-10, 0-7) to move within one win of a Class B Central division co-championship.

Junior Mike Ford added 17 points, freshman Andrei Matthews pitched in 10 and sophomore Dominico Dispenza netted nine for Keyport.

Senior Jax Ross scored 18 points and sophomore Jack Fitzpatrick added 17 to lead Henry Hudson.

Point Beach 59, Keansburg 46

Senior Kevin Burns scored 20 points on Senior Night and the Garnet Gulls (11-5, 6-1) topped the Titans (5-7, 2-6) to keep pace with Keyport in the race for first place in Class B Central.

Sophomore Jacob Edgecomb added 15 points and senior Kyle Kolans poured in 11 for Point Beach.

Senior Jaheim Hill scored 14 points and classmate Jordan Bey added 11 to lead Keansburg.

 

Class B South

Brick 28, Pinelands 26

Senior Brandon Farber posted seven points, 14 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Green Dragons (6-12, 3-6) in a down-to-the-wire defensive grinder against the Wildcats (2-16, 0-9).

Manchester 45, Barnegat 41

Junior Jaymire Watts and senior Evan Weiner each posted 16-point double-doubles and the Hawks (5-11, 4-5) held off the Bengals (6-11, 4-5).

Watts grabbed 12 rebounds and Weiner pulled in 10 to go with their team-high point totals.

Lacey 47, Central 44

Senior Chris Venturoso scored 14 points and the Lions (10-7, 8-1) pulled out a huge road win over the Golden Eagles (13-4, 8-1) to pull into a first-place tie with Central in the Class B Central standings.

Senior Troy Buxton added 11 points and 10 rebounds and hit a go-ahead three-pointer with two minutes left to give Lacey a 43-42 lead.

Senior Dylan Hall and junior Trevor Santucci each added eight points, including clutch scores in the final two minutes. Santucci hit a floater in the lane to extend the lead to 45-42 with 1:16 left and Hall hit both ends of a one-and-one with four seconds left to push the lead back to three, 47-44.

Sophomore Jayven Santucci led Central with 17 points, with senior John Truhan added 11 and junior Miles Chevalier chipping in eight in the loss.

 

Class C South

Ocean 64, Lakewood 31

Sophomore Zayier Dean led three Ocean players in double-figure scoring with 14 points and also grabbed seven rebounds to help spark the Spartans (13-4, 7-2) to a win over the Piners (3-12, 1-7).

Sophomore Ron Richardson added 13 points and senior Brandon Loughlin pitched in nine points and six rebounds on his Senior Night for Ocean.

Junior Derrick Marsh scored 24 of Lakewood's 31 points to notch the game-high scoring total.

Donovan Catholic 57, Jackson Liberty 39

Senior Brian Farrell pumped in 18 points and senior Pete Farlekas chipped in 17 as the Griffins (7-7, 6-2) rolled to a win over the Lions (1-15, 0-9).

Sophomore Jayson King led Jackson Liberty with a game-high 19 points.
