Manalapan 58, Marlboro 56
Junior Anthony Leger scored a game-high 29 points, including an 11-for-14 showing from the free-throw line to help the Braves pull out another win over the Mustangs -- their fifth win in a row overall.
Senior Jake Buchman chipped in 10 points for Manalapan and in the final minute, hit two clutch free throws and blocked a shot to seal the win.
Senior Alex Frank led Marlboro with 20 points.
CBA 48, No. 7 Freehold Twp. 39
Senior Joe White scored 15 points and the Colts came alive late in the third quarter to collect a payback win over the Patriots after losing to Freehold Township in double-overtime two weeks ago.
Sophomore Justin Fuerbacher added 11 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for CBA, which closed the game on a 24-9 run over the final nine minutes after scoring just 24 points in the first 23 minutes.
CBA missed its first 10 three-point attempts, but connected on four in a row from the end of the third quarter into the fourth. On three consecutive possessions, senior Will Bradley broke the drought with a corner three-pointer to cut Freehold Township's lead to 30-27, senior Anthony Biondollilo tied the game with a corner three, and White gave CBA the 33-30 lead with a three from the top of the key.
Junior Peter Noble capped the three-point run with a triple that pushed the CBA lead to 38-32. Noble scored all six of his points in the fourth quarter to go with four assists and two steals.
Senior Jayden Holmes-Cotter led Freehold Township with 19 points and 12 rebounds, while classmate Malachi Harris scored all 10 of his points in the second half while handing out six assists to go with two steals for the Patriots.
Class A Central
Holmdel 54, Freehold Boro 42
Junior Nick Seeloch scored 17 points and senior Drew Pollock chipped in 14 to pace the Hornets in a win over the Colonials.
Junior Ben Kipnis also poured in 11 points for Holmdel.
Junior Christian DiGiso scored a game-high 18 points to lead Freehold Boro, while sophomore teammate Brian Tassey posted 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
No. 3 Raritan 45, Matawan 39
Seniors Billy Tigar and Jack Coleman each scored 13 points and the Rockets rode a balanced offense and more tough defense to their 13th straight win to open the season.
Senior Jack O'Leary added 10 points for Raritan, which clinched no worse than a share of the Class A Central division championship with its win Friday night.
Sophomore Chauncey Brown scored 14 points and senior Colin Haluska chipped in 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Matawan.
St. John Vianney 59, Long Branch 55
Sophomore Aiden Ur scored 19 points and the Lancers held on to beat the Green Wave.
Senior Connor Howard added 12 points and junior Emanuel Domingo contributed 11 for St. John Vianney
Class B North
No. 9 Colts Neck 52, Red Bank 46
Sophomore Vova Trotsko scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Cougars battled past the Bucs to sweep the regular-season series.
Seniors Will Surdez and Tyler Spencer each added 11 points, with Surdez also hauling in six rebounds and handing out four assists for Colts Neck. Junior Mike Belcher also turned in a strong all-around effort in the win, putting up eight points, 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Senior Nick Valentino led Red Bank with 21 points and tied the game, 42-42, with a pair of free-throws with 2:05 left. Colts Neck regained the lead on a putback by Spencer on the next Cougars possession and Colts Neck closed out the win by going 6-for-7 from the foul line the rest of the way.
Senior Collin Teter added 10 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots for Red Bank.
Class C North
Wall 38, Neptune 36
Senior Matt Eisenberg scored 11 points to go with nine rebounds and junior Bo Pepe hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds left to ice the game as the Crimson Knights stunned the Scarlet Fliers for their first win of the season.
Senior Davionne Pearson led Neptune with a game-high 16 points.
Non-Division
Howell 48, Brick 34
Junior Chris Meehan scored a game-high 15 points and senior Damien Padilla posted 13 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Rebels to a win over the Green Dragons.
Junior D.J. Orloff also chipped in 11 points, while sophomore Jayden Johnson led Brick with nine points.
Point Beach 80, Lacey 79 (OT)
Freshman Jacob Edgecomb hit a game-tying three-pointer at the regulation buzzer and senior Kevin Burns drove for the game-winner with six seconds left in overtime as the Garnet Gulls pulled out a thrilling, overtime road win over the Lions.
Lacey senior Ryan Fitzgerald came up with a steal and was fouled with 1.9 seconds left in the fourth and his team up, 65-64. Fitzgerald hit both ends of a one-and-one to extend the lead to three, leaving Point Beach 1.9 seconds to go the length of the floor needing a three to send the game into overtime.
Senior Kyle Kolans fired the inbounds pass to the opposite free-throw line, where junior John Coakley caught the ball over the defender and fired it to the right corner -- all in one motion. Edgecomb was camped out beyond the three-point line and calmly drained the game-tying three-pointer.
Point Beach went up 76-71 in overtime, but Lacey rallied thanks to a pair of three-pointers by junior Logan Brash -- one to cut the deficit to 76-74 and another to give the Lions a 79-78 lead with 35 seconds left.
After an initial miss and a jumpball that gave possession back to Point Beach, the Garnet Gulls got the ball to Burns at the top of the key and the senior drove to the basket for a strong, go-ahead finish.
Brash got off a potential game-winning three-point attempt, but it came up short.
Burns finished with 24 points and Edgecomb poured in 18, while Coakley added a career-high 20 points to go with his clutch assist. Kolans also reached double-figures with 11 points for Point Beach.
Fitzgerald led Lacey with 23 points and senior Chris Venturoso pitched in 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss. Senior Dylan Hall also contributed 12 points and seven assists for the Lions.
Non-Conference
Henry Hudson 70, Academy Charter 49
Senior Jax Ross scored a game-high 23 points and the Admirals coasted to a win over Academy Charter.
Sophomore Jack Fitzpatrick added 11 points and junior Damyon Sparks-Edwards threw in nine for Henry Hudson.
Anthony Lyonns led Academy Charter with 14 points.
