NJSIAA Tournament

Sectional Semifinals

Central Jersey Group III

(1) Wall 80, (5) Allentown 60

Junior Pat Lacey scored a career-high 33 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists as the Crimson Knights (23-6) pulled away for a win over the Redbirds (21-7) to reach the Central Group III final for the second straight year.

Junior Logan Peters also turned in a career performance with 15 points and 15 rebounds while senior Quinn Calabrese poured in 15 points for Wall as well.

For the second straight season, Wall will host the Central Jersey Group III championship game and put their 2019 championship and 13-0 home record during 2019-20 on the line against No. 7 Neptune on Monday. The two Shore Conference Class B North division rivals met twice during the regular season, with Wall winning both meetings.

(7) Neptune 44, (11) Burlington Twp. 42

Junior Andre Harris scored on a putback with 2.3 seconds left and the Scarlet Fliers (16-13) rallied from a 10-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter to knock off the Falcons (14-15), reaching the Central Group III final for the first time since winning it in 2012.

Harris scored all five of his points in the fourth quarter, the first three of which came on a three-pointer that hit the back rim and bounced in to cut the Burlington Twp. lead to 40-39. With the score tied at 42, junior Sam Fagan missed a fade-away from the right elbow, but Harris crashed the glass and got the bounce.

The Neptune student section and bench flooded the court believing the game to be over, but 2.3 seconds were applied back to the clock by the officiating crew. John Paul Oluwadare's desperation heave was off the mark and the real celebration began.

Senior Saadiq Armstead led Neptune with 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench, including a go-ahead three-point play off a steal with 1:31 left to go. Senior Makai Suit chipped in 11 points behind three three-pointers, with two of those threes coming in the fourth quarter.

Neptune outscored Burlington Twp., 24-12, in the fourth quarter after scoring only 20 points over the first three quarters. Senior Azmere Wilson ignited the fourth-quarter rally by scoring all six of his points in the quarter before fouling out with 3:23 to play. Neptune scored the first seven points of the fourth quarter in just 55 seconds to pull within 30-27, with Wilson scored twice and Suit hitting a three.

Neptune will travel to top-seeded and defending champion Wall for the sectional final on Monday. Although Wall swept Neptune during the Class B North regular season, the games were competitive, with margins of victory were five points at Wall and seven points at Neptune.
