You know the saying, “one bad apple spoils the bunch” well, now it's all about bad berries.  The FDA is putting out a warning to people that a particular fruit brand is being recalled because their raspberries are infected with Hepatitis A.

Before you drink that smoothie make sure to do a brand check.  The FDA put out a message that James Farm's frozen raspberries have been contaminated.  How serious is Hepatitis A?  In some people, it can progress to liver failure.  The FDA broke that down,

“Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that results from exposure to the Hepatitis virus, including from food.  It can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious illness lasting several months.”

The FDA also added,

“Hepatitis A infection can progress to liver failure.  Persons who may have consumed affected product should consult with their health care professional or local health department to determine if a vaccination is appropriate.”

This is not exactly a convincing argument for eating healthy foods.  I’m not getting Hep A from grabbing a chocolate milkshake, ya know?

Symptoms can start as early as 15 days after you are exposed and they can include fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine, and pale stool. If you did contract it and you catch it within two weeks it can prevent serious illness.

Anyone who purchased these items can get a full refund.  Here are some more identifying details about the product in question.
