Ice Hockey – Three Stars for Friday, Feb. 5
In an homage to a National Hockey League tradition dating back to the 1936-1937 season, Shore Sports Network will be selecting three standouts from each day of Shore Conference ice hockey. The Three Stars of the Day will be posted each morning for the previous day's games.
First Star
Nate Block, Jr., Fwd., Middletown South
Block had a hand in all three of the Eagles' goals during their 3-2 victory over No. 2 St. John Vianney in Middletown South's first game since Jan. 20. Block had the primary assist on goals by Michae Volpi and Aiden Cavendish that staked the Eagles to a 2-0 lead and then scored his goal in the second period to put South up 3-0. Block has two goals and three assists in three games for the third-ranked Eagles.
Second Stars
Paul Golembiewski, Sr., Fwd. and Daniel Goldstein, Sr., Def., Marlboro/Holmdel
Golembiewski and Goldstein each registered two goals and one assist to pace the Mustangs in their 5-2 victory over No. 10 St. Rose/Red Bank Catholic/Donovan Catholic.
