Lincroft, NJ - After Kenny Campbell's no hitter earlier in the day, Christian Brothers Academy handed the ball to sophomore Nick Hohenstein to pitch them past Freehold Borough and into the Monmouth County Tournament semi finals.  Freehold Borough, just like Middletown North earlier in the day, was trying to beat the Colts for the second time in a week after their 2-1 victory on Thursday afternoon.

The Colonials had their chances early to jump all over CBA and Hohenstein, but the Colts right hander worked out of jam after jam in the first four innings to improve CBA's record to 13-5 overall and 7-3 A-North with a 4-2 win over Freehold Borough.

Hohenstein did not have great stuff or control earlier in this one and in the first inning loaded the bases with one out before getting out of the jam without giving up a run.  After getting leadoff ground out, Hohenstein walked the next batter, followed up with a hit batter and another walk to load the bases.  Phil Marcantonio who came up with the bases loaded  batting .286 with 2 rbi's on the season, was hoping to add to his season numbers.  Hohenstein however had other plans as he got Marcatonio to ground back to him for a force out at home and followed that with getting Nick Zuppe to pop out to second to end the first inning threat.

The Colts went to work in the bottom of the first behind the bat of leadoff hitter Cid Porter who laced a home run over the left field wall for a 1-0 lead.  CBA was not done and added two more runs behind an RBI single from Brandan Martorano and an RBI double from Kenny Campbell, to give the Colts a 3-0 lead.

Freehold Boro would once again load the bases in the top of the second inning with one out and once again Hohenstein was able to get out of the inning without giving up any runs.    After a 1-2-3 bottom of the second inning for the Colts, the Colonials would finally breakthrough in the top of the third inning.

After a leadoff groundout, Tom Holdorf would ground out to first but the thrown to Hohenstein covering the bag was dropped.  Marcantino would follow with hit single to left to setup first and second.  Zuppe then ground to short but got past Sal Ronaldi scoring Holdorf and advance Marcantino to third.  The Colonials would pick up a second run when Dom Wage singled to left and cut the Colts lead to 3-2.

Christian Brothers Academy would add an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth inning after Kenny Campbell singled to left and advanced to second when right fielder Marco Meleo misplayed the hit.  Chece would advance Campbell to third on a grounder to short who appeared to get Campbell at third but he was able to get under the tag, setting up first and third with no outs.  The Colts would score Campbell from third when Mike Triandafellos flew out to left far enough for Campbell to tag and slide in safely.

This would be all the runs the Colts would need to advance past the Colonials and find their way back to the MCT semi finals as Hohenstein would finish off six innings of strong pitching to end with 1K, 2BB, 1 hit batter, 4 hits and 2ER.  CBA would turn the ball over to Menendez for the final three outs in the seventh inning.

Afterwards when asked about his gutty performance Hohenstein added "I did not have great control or have my stuff early on but my teammates had my back and we battled through the early innings to find a way to win."
