Matt Harmon, the play-by-play voice of Townsquare Media’s Shore Sports Network has been named the New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year for the second straight year and the third time in his career.

Harmon was among the state and national winners announced by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association as part of their annual awards program and he will be honored during the 54th annual NSSA Awards Weekend June 8-10, 2013 in Salisbury, North Carolina.  Harmon has been the play-by-play voice of the Shore Sports Network for 15 years, broadcasting high school football and basketball along with co-hosting a weekly high school football show during the season on 105.7 The Hawk.

For the past few years his role with the SSN has been expanded and now includes Monmouth University football and basketball broadcasts.  Harmon also co-hosts a weekly show with head Coach Kevin Callahan during the Hawks football season.

All of the Monmouth sports programming airs on 1160/1310AM.

The Wall resident also covers a variety of sports for MSG Varsity and the Northeast Conference and is an anchor at 1010 WINS.  In addition to his busy sports schedule, Harmon is a professor in the department of communications at Monmouth University

Harmon and longtime Shore Sports Network voice Kevin Williams have dominated the New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year category.  Harmon also was saluted in 2011 and 2007 while Williams has earned the honor nine times between 1980-2006.  Along with Ed Sarluca they form a trio of highly respected sports broadcasters who form the core group of the Shore Sports Network.
