Class A North 

No. 6 Freehold Township 9, No. 3 Howell 2

Senior attackman Brandon Nunez had a hat trick and one assist, Mike Ferdinandi had a goal and three assists and Billy Sasso and Matt Lach each scored twice as the Patriots (10-4, 4-1) scored nine unanswered goals to take a huge divisional game from the Rebels (10-2, 5-1) and force a three-way tie atop A North.

The Patriots defense was outstanding in shutting down Howell after the Rebels scored twice in the game's first five minutes. Senior defenseman Mike O'Brien kept Howell's leading scorer, senior attackman Mark Buannic, to only one goal, and goalie Matt Schroepfer made nine saves. Sasso also picked up 10 ground.

Kevin Patten also scored for Freehold Township, which is now tied for the division lead with Howell and CBA.

Ian Colmorgan made 16 saves for Howell and Buannic and Nic Rossi had the Rebels' goals.

 

Middletown North 11, Marlboro 4

Junior attackman Bryan Flannigan scored four goals and had two assists and Chris Fisher and Connor Hedlund each scored twice to lead the Lions (9-6, 3-3) past the Mustangs (1-8, 0-6). Fisher also picked up seven ground balls.

The victory clinches a berth in the Shore Conference Tournament for Middletown North in its first year of eligibility.

Ryan Aker added a goal and two assists and Jordan Robinson and Justin Russo each finished with a goal and an assist. Khristian Acosta had two assists and Kevin Powers made eight saves.

 

No. 4 CBA 17, Neptune 0

Freshman attackman Mike Carroll scored a game-high four goals, Peter Gaffney had a hat trick and Nick Casner had a goal and four assists as the Colts (10-3, 5-1) blanked the Scarlet Fliers (1-10, 0-5).

Nick Gazzillo, Shay Walczak and John Spadevecchia each scored twice and Evan Bynoe and Ryan McGuiness combined on the shutout in goal.

 

Colts Neck 7, Middletown South 3

Anthony Mauriello had two goals and one assist and Chris Bisignano and Vinnie Gargiulo also scored twice as the Cougars (5-5, 3-2) got back to .500 with a win over the Eagles (6-8, 2-4).

Nick San Fillippo also scored for Colts Neck and Jack Schaefer and Thijs Smit each had two assists. Derek Price picked up a game-high eight ground balls, Connor McGowan had seven ground balls and Andrew Halmi was excellent again with 16 saves.

 

Class A South

No. 1 Southern 17, Brick 1

Senior attackman Dylan Jinks scored five goals, including the 250th of his career, as the Rams (12-0, 7-0) moved one step closer to clinching the division title.

Will Johnson also scored five times, Chris Smith had three goals and two assists, Shawn McManus had a hat trick and one assist and Nick Simonelli dished out four assists. Kyle Mulrane had a goal and two assists and Jon Manzo added three assists.

 

Lacey 11, Brick Memorial 4

Senior midfielder Dan McAvoy had a hat trick and two assists and junior midfielder Ryan Mahon scored twice and had two assists as the Lions (9-4, 4-2) topped the Mustangs (4-7, 2-5).

Sophomore midfielder Connor Wilson and senior attackman Kiernan Quinn each scored twice and added one assist, senior attackman Lucas Sirotniak finished with a goal and two assists and senior attackman Tim Gleason also found the back of the net for Lacey. Mike Trezza made 15 saves.

Bailey Sharpe scored twice to lead Brick Memorial.

 

Jackson Memorial 14, Toms River South 4

Junior attackman Justin Mayer scored a game-high four goals and added three assists and senior attackman Troy Wolf had a hat trick and four assists and to lead the Jaguars (5-7, 3-2) past the Indians (2-9, 1-5).

Senior Billy Plungis also had a hat trick and two assists and senior Eric Quaranta scored twice. Senior Zack Tetro added a goal and two assists and senior Zack Sheridan finished with a goal and an assist. Sophomore Dylan Furnback made 13 saves.

 

No. 10 Toms River North 17, Toms River East 1

 

Class B North

No. 2 Rumson-Fair Haven 9, No. 7 Red Bank Catholic 1

Junior Matt Waters and sophomore Colin Pavluk each scored twice to lead a balanced attack and pace the Bulldogs (8-5, 6-0) past the Caseys (8-3, 4-1). Griffin Schultz had a goal and two assists and sophomore Conor Deverin made nine saves to pick up the win.

Brett Habich scored and Matt Benjamin made 11 saves for RBC.

 

No. 8 Ocean 14, Shore 2

Junior attackman Joey Appio had a huge game with five goals and four assists and junior midfielder Erik Rant scored four times to power the Spartans (8-1, 5-1).

Junior midfielder Connor Daly added a hat trick and seniors Zack Karasic and Haydn Matarazzo also scored for Ocean. Senior Steven Graziano picked up a game-high nine ground balls and sophomore David Walk made nine saves.

Junior midfielder Doug Goldsmith had a goal, an assist and 11 ground balls for Shore.

 

Red Bank 28, Long Branch 0

Junior Cole Smolokoff led the way with five goals and three assists as the Bucs (6-9, 3-3) pounded the Green Wave (1-12, 0-5).

 

St. John Vianney 9, Ranney 6

Sophomore midfielder Ryan Gilfillan scored four goals and added one assist and sophomore attackman Andrew Porretta had a goal and five assists to lead the Lancers (6-7, 3-2) past the Panthers (0-7, 0-5).

Rich Mullarkey had a goal and an assist and Matt Adelfio, Tino D'Amore and Connor Zielasnicki also scored for St. John Vianney. D.J. Soriano made 14 saves.

Peter Gerhard, Jack Torpey and Matthew Torpey each scored twice for Ranney and Ian Farber made 14 saves.

 

 

Class B South

St. Rose 15, Point Boro 7

Senior attackman Matt Frost poured in seven goals and added three assists to spearhead the Purple Roses (5-8, 2-4) in their victory over the Panthers (1-12, 0-4).

Senior attackman Scott Dimmit added two goals and four assists, Griffin McDermott had two goals and one assist and Louis Melone had a goal and two assists. Robbie Brugnoli made 15 saves.

 

Wall 22, Donovan Catholic 10

Freshman Mike McIntyre exploded for eight goals and one assist and junior Mike Steppe scored seven goals and added four assists to lead an offensive explosion for the Crimson Knights (9-3, 4-1).

Sean Ferguson and Lucas Iarossi each scored twice, Dylan Bosco had four assists and Liam Ferguson and Thomas Jenkins each had a goal and two assists. Zach Harrell made 12 saves.
