Senior defender Casey Matthijs scored the deciding goal in the 69th minute and the Holmdel girls soccer team - seeded No. 3 in the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group II Tournament - continued its NJSIAA Group II title defense by beating No. 6 Bernards Thursday.

Holmdel advances to host No. 10 Governor Livingston in Monday's sectional semifinal.
