The host Hornets (6-8) hung tough with the defending Non-Public B state champion, trailing Saddle River Day, 44-40, before the Rebels closed with a 16-7 burst in the fourth.
Ryann Taylor, a 5-8 junior swing, drilled three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 11 points, complemented by five rebounds, and senior forward Leah Nolan finished with 10 points, four rebounds and two blocks for Holmdel. Senior guard Carson Fontana added eight points, all from the foul line.
Saddle River Day (13-1) got 25 points from Saniah Caldwell.

Trenton Catholic 71, No. 4 Manchester 61
The Hawks (13-3) saw their five-game win streak halted by Trenton Catholic (15-1), which reserved enough energy in a briskly-played contest to seal the outcome with a 26-19 performance in the fourth quarter.
Junior forward Destiny Adams was a force in the the lane for Manchester, picking up 20 points, 23 rebounds, five blocks, four assists and a steal while sophomore guard Amyah Bray counted a trio of 3-pointers among her 13 points.
Giana Hernandez-Boulden led four players in double figures for the Iron Mikes with 19 points. Zoe Brooks added 17, Maniya Custis flipped in 15 and Ciara Bailey scored 12.
Rutgers Prep 47, No. 1 Red Bank Catholic 41
Red Bank Catholic (13-2) raced to a 15-4 lead only to have Rutgers Prep (13-3) methodically chip away and eventually erase the deficit. The Argonauts forged a 33-33 deadlock and capped the comeback by putting together a 14-8 closing kick in the fourth.
Sophomore guard Justine Pissott fired in five 3-pointers and had a game-high 20 points for RBC while sophomore center Ally Carman dropped in 10.
Kaylie Favours offset Pissott's perimeter outburst by sinking five triples amongst her 17 points for the Argonauts, who outscored RBC, 43-26, over the final three quarters.
No. 4 St. Rose 48, Mount St. Mary 45
Limited to a bucket in the first half, senior guard Brynn Farrell erupted to net 26 of her 28 points after intermission as the Purple Roses (11-4) overcame a 20-13 halftime deficit to emerge victorious.

Wildwood Catholic 58, No. 6 Red Bank 48
The Bucs (11-3) fell into a 32-20 halftime hole that brought a close to their five-game win streak.
Senior guard Taylor Crystian had 17 points and seven rebounds while junior guards Caitlyn Decker (15 points, seven assists, five rebounds, four steals) and Chloe Teter (12 points) each canned three 3-pointers for Red Bank.
Marianna Papazoglou pumped in 23 points and Gabby Turco scored 21 for Wildwood Catholic (12-2).
