Consolation: Manasquan 66, Marlboro 60

Sophomore guard Brooke Hollawell erupted for 29 points, 17 coming in the first half to pace Manasquan to a 35-23 lead. Sophomore forward Dorothy Loffredo scored 14 and sophomore swing Georgia Heine added 12 for the Warriors.

Hollawell finished with five 3-pointers. Loffredo and junior guard Maci Black each grabbed 10 rebounds for Manasquan.

Junior forward Jessica Riepe topped Marlboro with 18 points.

Junior forward Destiny Adams pumped in 31 points and grabbed 17 rebounds while senior guard Nahkaleigh Hayes-Jones came off the bench to net 17 as Manchester (5-0) won its third straight WOBM Christmas Classic crown.

Adams became the first player in the 36-year history of the tournament - boys or girls - to win three consecutive MVP awards in the event. Her 20 points and 11 boards in the first half sparked the Hawks to a 35-21 lead.

Red Bank (4-1) countered with a 14-5 surge at the outset of the third, fueled by three 3-pointers from junior guard Amelia Medolla and another from senior guard Taylor Crystian, to close the gap to 40-35 but a trey by Hayes-Jones up the advantage back to eight and the Bucs never drew closer.

Crystian poured in 30 points for Red Bank and Medolla ended with 11.

Bette Bradley supplied 10 points while Lila Trench and Le'Ana Brown finished with eight apiece to steer Ocean (1-3) to its first victory of the campaign.

The Spartans parlayed a 13-4 showing in the third to open a 37-20 advantage. Sydney Po topped Monmouth (0-4) with eight points and eight rebounds.

Lacey 50,  Matawan 46

Sophomore forward Sarah Zimmerman dropped in a team-high 16 points and junior guard Caylie Biele finished with 14 for Lacey (2-2), which used a 21-4 third quarter to open a 42-26 lead.

Skylar Parris led Matawan (2-3) with 16 points.

Freehold Twp. 47, Sayreville 17

Junior forward Hannah Orloff had 17 points to go with 11 rebounds and junior frontcourt partner Courtney Campbell offered nine points and 10 boards to power Freehold Twp. (3-1). The Patriots opened a 40-10 cushion behind a 19-2 burst in the third quarter.

Junior guard Tanya Elsbree had eight points and five boards for the Patriots.

Championship: Howell 59, Shore 57

Sophomore guard Grace Leary, who flipped in 15 points, hit a driving layup at the buzzer to lift the Rebels (3-1).


Junior forward Caitlin Gresko collected 16 points, five rebounds and five assists for Howell while Leary added eight rebounds. Mackenzie Bruno chipped in with nine points and six boards while freshman Kerry DeStefano hit a pair of threes and added eight points.

Junior guard Madison LaRosa led Shore (3-2) with 24 points and freshman Rylee Drahos clicked for 19.

Diamond State Classic
at Wilmington, Del.

Red Bank Catholic 58, Roland Park Day (Md.) 45

Sophomore guard Justine Pissott was electric from the 3-point arc, sticking six triples en route to 20 points for the Caseys. Sophomore center Ally Carman gave Red Bank Catholic (4-1) ample presence in the post with 16 points and junior point guard Sophia Sabino netted 10.

Holmdel 53, Lincoln 31

Senior forward Leah Nolan struck for 21 points, five rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists for Holmdel (2-2). Sophomore forward Abbey Ferguson backed up eight points with 10 boards and junior guard Ryann Taylor had eight points, five assists and four rebounds. Junior swing Olivia Palmer added nine points on the strength of three 3-pointers.

at Long Branch

Barnegat 38, Lakewood 34

Sophomore guard Kya Joseph recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds for Barnegat (2-2). The Bengals used a 19-6 third quarter to build a 29-26 edge.

Junior guard Kaya Foy scored nine and freshman forward Cara McCoy finished with seven points and 11 boads for the Bengals.

Jackson Liberty 42, Pinelands 40

Maura Carney sank six 3-pointers on her way to 24 points for Jackson Liberty (2-2), which used a 16-8 burst in the second quarter to seize a 19-14 edge. Junior forward Ashley Tavaska set the defensive tone with five steals to go with six points, senior guard Kayla Nelson doled out four assists and 6-3 sophomore Jessica Canestro cleared eight rebounds for the Lions.

Point Beach 37, Plainfield 35

The Garnet Gulls (3-1) rallied from a 21-11 halftime deficit to upend Plainfield to finsih third place at the Lady Wave Tournament. Point Beach capped the comeback with an 18-10 closing tear over the final eight minutes.

Kristen Ohlinger counted a pair of 3-pointers among her team-high 14 points and Patricia Rizzo clicked for 10 points to fuel the victory.

Championship: Long Branch 50, Brick 28

Senior swing Anyssa Fields turned in a dominating performance to power the Green Wave (4-0) to the tournament title. Fields backed up 27 points with 18 rebounds for Long Branch, which owned a 23-11 lead at the break. Jada Rogers picked up 12 points and seven boards in the triumph. Madison Grayson chipped in with six points and six rebounds

Emma Carpino topped Brick (2-2) with 13.

Naples Holiday Shootout
at Naples, Fla.

St. Rose 71, Fort Myers (Fla.) 57

Junior point guard Abby Antognoli clicked for 21 points to pace the Purple Roses (3-1). Seniors Brynn Farrell and Makayla Andrews pumped in 17 apiece for St. Rose.

Roselle Catholic Tournament

Middletown North 38, King's Christian 27

Hayley Stratton, Olivia Cerbo and Sophia Memon each netted nine points and the trio combined to haul down 16 rebounds to power the Lions (1-2).
