Amid the carousel of sources who comprise the posse of 3-point shooters within Marlboro’s offense, Jessica Riepe is the undeniable sheriff.
The 5-11 junior doesn’t just knock down long-range jumpers, she buries them at a rate that currently tops the Shore Conference. The Mustangs are slightly behind pace from a year ago, when they hit 340 threes but Riepe is well ahead of the production of her sophomore season. After sinking 61 last winter, she already had drained 76.
Riepe has hit no less than two in any game this season, made a career-high seven en route to 25 points -0 also a career standard - in a win over Freehold Boro and knocked down six more to key a 53-40 decision against Middletown South that locked up a second straight A South title for Marlboro.
Riepe is the Shore Sports Network Girls Basketball Player of the Week and will receive a $25 gift card from Surf Taco.
She is scoring at a 14.1 point clip for the Stangs (18-3) but her contributions don’t solely revolve around the arc. Riepe is also competitive on the interior as a defender and rebounder who pulls down nearly five boards per game.
