Group 3

1-Colts Neck 43, 4-Red Bank 34

Top-seeded Colts Neck (20-7) built a 24-21 lead at the half, widened the advantage to 35-28 after three quarters and closed out the triumph to notch its third win of the season against B North foe and fourth-seeded Red Bank (20-9).

The Cougars will host third-seeded Westampton Tech on Monday at 5:30, taking aim at their first sectional title since winning Central Jersey, Group 4 in 2014.

Junior guard Camryn Foltz paced the Cougars with 16 points. while the Colts Neck defense limited Red Bank to 13.7 points below its season average of 47.7 per game.

Group 1

2-Middlesex 58, 6-Point Beach 51

Middlesex (25-4) seized a 13-6 lead in the opening quarter and staved off the gradual threat of Point Beach (19-8).

The Garnet Gulls, who narrowed the gap to 25-20 by halftime, got 12 points from senior guard Carleigh Burns and senior forward Madelyn House while sophomore forward Cassidy Burns finished with 11. Senior guard McKayla Hughes chipped in with eight points and sophomore guard Kristin Ohlinger scored seven for the Beach.

Carly Santucci led all scorers with 14 for Middlesex.

South Jersey

Group 3

2-Ocean City 46, 3-Toms River East 41

Ocean City (23-6) darted out to a 19-6 lead and held off a stiff challenge by Toms River East (20-8).

The Raiders put together a 25-16 surge over the second and third quarters to whittle the deficit down to 35-31. Senior guard Kamryn Lister topped East with 15 points and junior guard Jordyn Madigan netted nine.

Abby Fenton and Emma Finnegan scored 13 apiece for Ocean City.

Non-Public A

South Jersey

1-St. Rose 58, 4-Mount St. Mary 36

Sophomore point guard Abby Antognoli matched her season high with 19 points and added seven steals, four rebounds and two assists to pilot the defending champion back to the sectional final.

Senior guard Lauren Lithgow clicked for 10 points and junior guard Brynn Farrell had nine points. Freshman Mary Donnelly ripped down 10 rebounds.

The Purple Roses, who will face second-seeded St. John Vianney in the sectional championship on Tuesday at Jackson Liberty at 5 p.m., used a 38-17 effort that bridged the second and third quarters to build a 49-28 advantage.

2-St. John Vianney 56, 3-Bishop Ahr 44

 

 

Senior point guard Sarah Karpell memorialized the 400th career win of her coach and mother Dawn by striking for a season-high 15 points - fueled by three 3-pointers - as the Lady Lancers (23-3) advanced to the sectional final on Tuesday and a showdown with top-seeded St. Rose at Jackson Liberty at 5 p.m..

Vianney trailed, 28-25, at the half but put together a 13-5 rush in the third to take a 38-33 lead. Sophomore guard Katie Hill dropped in 14 points while senior forward Sajada Bonner, senior guard Rahmena Henderson and freshman guard Madison St. Rose all scored nine in the win.
