Ocean senior running back Tyler Thompson has given a verbal commitment to attend the University of Massachusetts on a football scholarship.

Thompson announced his decision Friday on Twitter.

He ran for over 1,000 yards in three of his four seasons as Ocean’s starting running back, missing out on a fourth only because of an injury late in his junior year.

The Class B North Offensive Player of the Year, Thompson finished his career with 4,866 yards rushing and 52 touchdowns.

Thompson also had offers from Boston College, UConn, Old Dominion, Syracuse, Temple and Virginia.
