SHORE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

Round of 16

1-Manasquan 16, 16-Toms River North 0

Senior attackman Canyon Birch scored six goals and added two assists to become the first player in New Jersey history and 23rd player nationally to reach 500 career points as the Warriors (14-0) blanked the Mariners (8-5) to advance to the quarterfinals.

Birch also pulled to within seven goals of passing Matt Poskay as the state's all-time leading goal scorer (362 goals).

Senior attackman Ryan Anderson sank three goals and dished out four assists and sophomore attackman Casey Mulligan tallied three goals and two assists. Senior middie Riley Callahan added one goal and one assist while James Pendergist, Casey Campbell and Mike Cielecki scored once.

Manasquan will host eighth-seeded Howell on Tuesday in the round of 16.

 

8-Howell 10, 9-Lacey 4

James Fay and Logan Dennison each recorded two goals and two assists and Vaughn Meehan won 15 of 16 face-offs to lead the Rebels (9-5) to a win over the Lions (10-2) to reach the quarterfinals.

Meehan also scored once while Jared Badillo tallied two goals and one assist, Tyler Burns had one goal and one assist and Doug MacKenzie and Joey Sorrentino each scored once. Jared Jablonski made 14 saves in goal to pick up the win.

Dylan Vitale scored twice and Dominic Waltonowski and Ryan Giles each scored once for Lacey.

Howell will play top-seeded Manasquan on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

 

5-Wall 15, 12-Jackson Memorial 7

Logan Peters tallied five goals and two assists and Ryan Brice recorded four goals and three assists to power the Crimson Knights (10-2) past the Jaguars (10-4) and into the quarterfinals for the second straight season.

Daniel Burns notched three goals and three assists, Matt Dollive had two goals and one assist and Ethan Doyle added one goal and one assist. Kyle Wenzel went 14-for-26 on face-offs and chipped in offensively with two assists. Sean DeMott made 14 saves to backstop the victory.

Wall will play at fourth-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven on Tuesday in the quarterfinals. Wall defeated Rumson, 10-9 in overtime, in the regular season.

 

4-Rumson-Fair Haven 14, 13-Holmdel 6

Drew Shaw delivered four goals and four assists and Ryan Croddick made nine saves to lead the Bulldogs (10-7) past the Hornets (9-6) and into the quarterfinals yet again.

It was a balanced scoring effort for Rumson with Kiel Forlenza tallying three goals and two assists, Patrick Jamin recording two goals and three assists and Rowan Goldin scoring twice. Harry Ricker added a goal and two assists.

Dan Tempone scored twice and went 18-for-23 on face-offs to lead Holmdel. David Burke also scored twice while Justin Cohen had a goal and two assists. Tom Ilvento scored once and Nick Tuccillo made 15 saves.

Rumson will host fifth-seeded Wall in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will be looking for payback after Wall won the regular-season meeting between the two teams, 10-9 in overtime.

 

3-Shore 18, 14-Ocean 5

Senior midfielder Jack McCrae scored six goals and two assists, senior midfielder Gil Goldsmith recorded two goals and six assists and senior attackman Jake Turner tallied two goals and five assists to send the Blue Devils (12-0) to a win over the Spartans (8-7) in the round of 16.

Justin Murphy and Jamie Mazzacco each scored three times, Terry Carlstrom had one goal and one assist, Tom Bocco scored once and Sean O'Brien went 23-for-26 on face-offs. Goalie Scott Sirianni and defensemen Gunnar Schuelzky, Ryan Dolan, Liam Rempel and Jake Shirley held Ocean to only one goal in the second half.

Holden Lowe, Hyatt Lowe, Mike Nies and Dale Alto had one goal each for Ocean while Garett Schwab made 11 saves.

 

6-Southern 9, 11-St. John Vianney 8

Cade Johnson sank three goals and added two assists and Luke Maul made nine saves as the Rams (11-2) edged the Lancers (9-7) in a tight battle to reach the quarterfinals.

Ajani Steverson scored twice, Jake Hughes had a goal and two assists and Ryan Sininsky had a goal and an assist. Luke Bruther and Nick Stankus each scored once.

Anthony Brett led St. John Vianney with three goals and three assists, and with an assist on the first goal of the game established a new single-season program record for points, which is now 84 and counting. Brett also tied for the game-high with eight ground balls. Mike D'Anzieri scored twice, Nick Caruti scored once and defenseman Mason Shenk collected eight ground balls and also scored a goal. Josh O'Leary had a dominant day at face-off X by going 18-for-21. C.J. Hanson made 13 saves in goal.

Southern will play third-seeded Shore on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.

 

10-Freehold Township 7, 7-Middletown South 4

Kyle Von Nessen scored three times and Aidan Purcell made 10 saves as the Patriots (9-5) exacted revenge on the Eagles (10-4) to reach the quarterfinals.

Middletown South had won the regular-season meeting between the Class A North rivals, 6-5.

Brendan Doel tallied two goals and two assists and Jake Liebross contributed two goals and one assist. Freehold Township jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and held off Middletown South the rest of the way.

Connor Ard led Middletown South with three goals. Carter Lenhard scored once and Shane Murphy made six saves.

Freehold Township will play No. 2 CBA in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. CBA won the regular-season meeting between the Class A North rivals, 15-3.

 

2-CBA 11, 15-Red Bank Catholic 4

Dan Martin scored three goals with one assist, Connor Macrae tallied two goals and two assists and Noah D'Andrea made nine saves to lead the Colts (9-5) past the Caseys (8-8) and into the quarterfinals.

Chris Romano scored twice, Kyle Aldridge added one goal and one assist and Patrick Convery and defenseman Tommy Gray each scored once.

Ryan Schellin had a hat trick and Anthony Muniz had one goal and one assist for RBC. Declan Grigg made 12 saves.

CBA will host 10th-seeded Freehold Township in the quarterfinals. The Colts won the regular-season meeting between the two games, 15-3.
