This week’s “Turning Point of the Game”:

With four seconds on the clock at the end of the second quarter, Toms River North faced a 4th-and-12 from Middletown South's 25-yard line. The Mariners had just taken the lead roughly three minutes earlier on a three-yard rush by senior Matt Spalletta and were looking to head into halftime with a two possession lead over the Eagles. TRN came out in a five-wide set with junior QB Jake Kazanowsky lined up in the shotgun. Kazanowsky took the snap and, with Middletown South only rushing three, rolled out to his right. The QB fired a strike to the right side of the end zone, connecting with sliding junior WR Zach Goodale for the 25-yard TD. After a successful extra point attempt, the Mariners went into the half with a 27-14 advantage over their American Division rivals en route to an eventual 34-29 win. For their efforts, Kazanowsky and Goodale will each receive a gift card from Turning Point breakfast, brunch, and lunch.

Be sure and look every week for “The Turning Point of the Game.
