Class A North
Freehold 26, No. 10 Middletown North 20
Sophomore running back Ashante Worthy and senior quarterback Jake Curry each ran for a pair of touchdowns and the Colonials (2-1, 2-1) defense held off a late rally by the Lions (2-1, 1-1).
Worth ran for a 28-yard touchdown and a 19-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and Curry had a 2-yard touchdown in the second quarter and a 1-yard score in the third as Freehold built a 26-0 lead.
Middletown North played without senior standout Chad Freshnock, who was injured last week against Marlboro. The Lions began to rally late in the third quarter on a 65-yard touchdown pass from Donald Glenn to Brendan Kube. Demetrius Redway scored on a 3-yard run to make it 26-14 late in the third and Glenn found Kube again for a 4-yard score with just over four minutes left in regulation.
Class A Central
No. 5 Rumson-FH 27, Monmouth 0
Matt Vecchiarelli ran for a pair of touchdowns and Mike O'Connor had a short touchdown run and also threw a touchdown pass to senior wide receiver John Kingdon as the Bulldogs (2-0, 2-0) won by shutout for the second straight game.
Manasquan 27, Holmdel 12
Senior quarterback Liam Grieb threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Damaso Jaime and a 12-yard score to junior Kyle LeBlanc as the Warriors (2-1, 2-1) doubled up the Hornets (0-3, 0-3). Junior running back Parker Day returned a kickoff 85 yard for a touchdown and Paul Krueger added a 1-yard touchdown run.
Aneesh Agrawal ran for a touchdown and also threw a 26-yard touchdown to Vincent Vitiello for Holmdel.
Class A South
No. 9 Brick Memorial 48, Lacey 0
Senior quarterback Tim Santiago ran for over 100 yards and touchdowns of 30 and 17 and the Mustangs (2-1, 2-1) nearly hit 50 points for the second straight week in taking down the Lions (0-3, 0-3).
Senior running back Elie Lavarin scored on a 5-yard touchdown run and sophomore fullback Tony Thorpe scored on a 20-yard run. Justin Hans added a 40-yard fumble return for a touchdown and senior Justin Bates ran for a touchdown and returned an interception for a touchdown.
No. 6 Brick 28, Toms River East 0
Senior quarterback Tom Zbranak threw for 126 yards and two touchdowns while the Dragons defense notched its second straight shutout to remain undefeated (3-0, 3-0).
Zbranak threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Ja'Sir Taylor and a 26-yard touchdown to senior wide receiver Javion Harris. Taylor also had a 20-yard touchdown run. Joe Sclafani added a 1-yard touchdown run. Brick has allowed a Shore Conference-low six points in three games.
Class B Central
Keyport 21, Point Beach 7
Running back Desmund Underwood ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass to help the Red Raiders (2-1, 1-1) upend the Garnet Gulls (1-2, 1-1).
Shore 46, Keansburg 6
Mark Russo returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown, and it was all Blue Devils (3-0, 2-0) from there as they toppled the Titans (0-3, 0-2).
Junior quarterback Matt Pennell ran for a touchdown and threw one to senior fullback Doug Goldsmith, senior running back Jack Britton scored on a 2-yard run and junior Josh Campi added a 59-yard touchdown run for Shore. Senior linebacker Connor Rempel added a 38-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
