No. 8 Wall 6, Brick 5

Junior Jake Howlett hit a go-ahead solo home run to break a 5-5 tie in the top of the sixth for his second homer of the game and the Crimson Knights pulled out a win over the Green Dragons after squandering a four-run lead in the late innings.

Brick tied the game at 5-5 with four runs in the bottom of the fifth. Junior David Marcus trimmed the deficit to 5-2 with an RBI single and after a bases-loaded wild pitch knocked another run off Wall's lead, sophomore Peyton Horning came through with an RBI single that also scored the tying run after an error in the outfield.

Howlett then came up as the first batter of the seventh inning and cracked a leadoff homer over the centerfield fence on a 1-1 pitch, pushing the Crimson Knights back in front to stay.

Wall took the early lead with four runs in the third inning, including a two-run home run by Howlett. Senior Gabe Cavazzoni opened the scoring with an RBI single and senior Matt Johnson followed Howlett's homer with a solo shot of his own to make it 4-0.

No. 6 Marlboro 5, Lacey 3 (8 Innings)

Senior Anthony Martino hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the top of the eighth inning for his second RBI of the day and the Mustangs topped the Lions in extra innings to end a three-game skid.

Senior Justin Capell followed Martino's single with a sacrifice fly to provide additional cushion for senior Lawrence Ellinson, who pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win and close it out.

Martino doubled home a run in a two-run Marlboro sixth that gave the Mustangs a 3-1 lead. Lacey answered with two in the bottom of the sixth to tie it, 3-3, with junior Ethan Anderson delivering a two-run single to level the score again.

Senior Alex Stanyek led off the bottom of the first with a solo home run -- his second leadoff homer of the season -- and classmate Shane Andrus added a two-run shot in the fifth to spark the Caseys to a win over a fellow top-five opponent in the Griffins.

Junior Matt Brunner roped a two-run single during RBC's five-run first inning and also made a leaping catch just in front of the fence in dead centerfield on a towering fly ball hit by Donovan Catholic senior Gavin Degnan in the top of the 6th.

Junior right-hander Steve Svenson took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, but senior Rocco Scarpitti broke up the no-hit bid and the shutout with a solo home run to left-center.

Non-Conference

Delbarton 7, No. 1 Ranney 6

Freshman Sal Garcia hit a game-tying, three-run home run in the top of the fifth inning, Delbarton scored the winning run on an error later in the inning and Seton Hall commit Aiden Dell closed out the game in the seventh as the Green Wave handed the Panthers their first loss.

Delbarton's four-run rally in the fifth spoiled a big day for Ranney senior A.J. Gracia, who belted two solo home runs and struck out seven in four innings before departing with a 6-3 lead. Gracia's first homer cut Delbarton's lead to 3-2 in the third and his second gave Ranney a 4-3 lead in the fourth.

Senior Brett Wehringer followed Gracia's second homer with a single and senior Jack Tallent extended Ranney's lead to 6-3 with a line-drive, two-run homer to left.
