Senior Enrique Beltra hit a game-tying homer in the second inning and a tiebreaking RBI single in the bottom of the sixth as the Panthers pulled out a hard-fought win over the Falcons to earn a spot in the MCT semifinals later this week against No. 8 Middletown South.

After the Hawks jumped in front, 1-0, on an unearned run off Ranney starter Marcello Mastroianni, Beltra responded with his game-tying solo home run. The Panthers then grabbed a 3-1 lead in the third, with fifth-year senior Brett Wehringer highlighting the rally with an RBI single.

Monmouth hit back in the top of the fifth, with junior Evan Booth belting a solo home run to cut the deficit in half and senior Aiden Denton leveling up the score with an RBI double as part of his perfect day at the plate.

After Beltra broke the tie with his RBI single in the bottom of the sixth, senior A.J. Gracia added on a run for Ranney with an RBI double.

No. 6 Jackson Memorial 8, No. 9 Central 6

Senior Charlie Meglio hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the third inning and fifth-year senior Dean Daddio recorded the final eight outs on 18 pitches to help the Jaguars clip the Golden Eagles for their seventh straight win.

Jackson Memorial jumped in front, 2-0, on a two-run double by senior Aidan O'Donnell in the top of the first inning and expanded the lead to 3-1 on a solo home run to right-centerfield by junior Nick Izzo.

Sophomore Tommy Tuzzolino singled home a run in the bottom of the second and junior Brayden Lowden drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game.

Meglio then cranked a long fly ball over the left-centerfield fence for a tiebreaking, two-run homer.

Senior Matt Koblos added a two-run single in the fourth and senior Mike Arent followed with another RBI single to stretch the lead to 8-3.

Central got a run back in the bottom of the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Cristian Soto and picked up two runs in the fifth -- the first on an unusual dead-ball in which the ball got lodged in between the chest and chest protector of O'Donnell, the Jaguars catcher. By rule, that is a dead ball and the runners and second and third were cleared to each advance one base.

Another run scored on a bases-loaded walk and Daddio Jackson Memorial coach Pat George summoned for Daddio with one out, the bases loaded and Soto coming to bat. Daddio induced a 6-3 double-play to shortstop Nick Mellino to get out of the jam and cruised through the final two innings to close out the victory.
