SSN Week 4 Boys Soccer Player of the Week

Will Buono, Toms River North

Toms River North finally suffered its first loss of the season last weekend, but the Mariners did some good things in losing to CBA, 4-2, on the road.

One positive development over the past week was the emergence of Buono as a reliable finisher. The senior went off for a hat trick in a rout of Brick, scoring all three of his goals during the second half in a 7-0 Mariners rout of the Green Dragons.

If you are looking for a goal in a tighter game, Buono had that covered last week as well. Toms River North got off to a fast start Saturday at CBA, with Buono sliding onto a cross from senior teammate Jared Brown and poking it into the goal for a 1-0 Mariners lead 15 minutes into the match.

Buono collected a third of the votes cast in the Week 4, which was good enough to hold off runner-up Matt Karolak of Manasquan, who drew 21 percent of the vote.
