Class A North

No. 7 Colts Neck 3, Neptune 0

Seniors Christian Saavedra and Michael Martino each scored in the first 20 minutes and senior Amro Dewadar capped the scoring in the 72nd to nail down a win for the Cougars over the Scarlet Fliers in the opener for two teams who migrated to Class A North this year from B North.

Sophomore McKenna Church hammered a shot off the post in the second half with the score still 2-0 and fellow sophomore Wilby Alfred was active up top for the Fliers, who were turned away by Colts Neck goalkeeper Evan Lowell. Lowell stopped five shots to earn his first career shutout.

 

Class A Central

Matawan 4, St. John Vianney 1

Senior Anthony Quattrocci scored two goals and seniors Jacon Labinger and John Vail added one apiece as the Huskies (1-1, 1-1) pulled away for a win over the Lancers (0-2, 0-2).

Holmdel 3, Red Bank 2 (OT)

Junior Matt Lionette took a pass from sophomore Anthony Arena, beat two defenders and scored the golden goal in the 95th minute to give the Hornets a win over the Bucs in the opener for both teams.

Red Bank overcame an own goal two minutes into the second half and a two-goal deficit to send the game to overtime. Senior Chris Fuentes scored in the 48th minute and senior Max Lane hit a shot from 25 yards out off a corner kick to equalize in the 70th.

Sophomore Torre Avitable hit a shot off the post late in regulation in a bid to give Holmdel the lead and Red Bank junior keeper Colin Baker followed with a lunging save on a shot by Arena.

Avitable opened the scoring for Holmdel in the 25th off a corner kick by Arena.

 

Class A South

Toms River North 4, Toms River East 1

Senior Matt Benvenuto scored twice on assists by sophomore Riley DeFeis and the Mariners (2-0, 2-0) pulled away with a win over the Raiders (0-2, 0-2) with four goals in 11 minutes.

The two teams entered the second half scoreless before Benvenuto broke the ice with a goal in the 48th. Toms River East junior Santino Celebre answered a minute later to pull the Raiders even, with junior Chrisitan Zamora finding him with the pass.

One minute after Celebre's goal, senior Mitch Reed scored to give Toms River North the lead in the 50th. Senior Joe Swanton struck five minutes later off an sophomore Andrew Casey set-up and Benvenuto capped the scoring in the 58th.

 

Non-Division

Jackson Liberty 1, Brick 0

Junior Kevin Garry scored the game's lone goal and the Lions (1-0-1) topped the Green Dragons (0-2) in an Ocean County inter-divisional match.

Jackson Memorial 1, Freehold Boro 0

Junior Jacob Patti scored 12 minutes into the game on a feed from senior Mike Schoener and the Jaguars (2-0) held on to beat the Colonials (0-2). Sophomore Nick Kinzler saved six shots to earn the shutout.

Raritan 3, Lakewood 0

Junior Ryan Goggins converted a first-half penalty kick and Nick Benoit and Peter Amato scored a minute apart in the second half as the Rockets (2-0) blanked the Piners (0-2). Benoit buried a free kick in the 55th and Amato streaked through the defense for a score in the 56th.

Senior Chad Santopadre locked up a shutout with four saves.

Middletown South 4, Mater Dei Prep 0

Senior Mike Jarostchuk scored a goal in each half and the Eagles (1-0-1) used a three-goal first half to bury the Seraphs (0-1). Juniors Connell MacLellan and Andy Segovia accounted for the first two Middletown South goals before Jarostchuk struck before the half.

Freshman Danny Minze, junior Brendan Magner and junior Christian Sigua set up the first half goals. Senior Ryan Nacelerio needed just one save to earn his second shutout in as many days.

No. 5 Shore 1, Donovan Catholic 1

Senior Dante Montesinos pulled Shore even with a penalty kick in the 72nd minute but the Griffins (0-0-2) held off the Blue Devils (1-0-1) comeback to earn a draw despite playing a man down from the penalty kick on.

Montesinos was taken down just inside the top of the 18-yard box and converted the ensuing kick to the lower corner. Donovan Catholic keeper Kevin Dillon was sent off with a red card after the trip for dissent and the Blue Devils owned a man advantage the rest of the way, but only mustered one shot in the two overtime periods.

Donovan Catholic jumped in front in the first half when senior Jon Michael Pereira settled a low cross from junior E.J. Lucas and knocked in a shot from six yards out in the 24th.

Ranney 6, Monmouth 1

Senior Ian Dobrzynski scored four goals and assisted another as the Panthers (2-0) coasted to a win over the Falcons (0-2). Senior Brendan Wall and sophomore AO Odunlami each added a goal and two assists and senior Shane Keenan chipped in an assist as well.

Sophomore Chris Anfuso scored the lone Monmouth goal.

St. Rose 2, No. 6 Wall 1 (OT)

Senior Matty O'Malley scored the golden goal to lift the Purple Roses (2-0) to a rousing win over the No. 6 Crimson Knights (0-1-1). Junior Ethan Bodine accounted for the first St. Rose goal.

Central 2, Lacey 1

Senior Griffin Bacon scored the game-winning goal off an assist by senior Frank Golda and the Golden Eagles (2-0) held on to beat the Lions (0-2).

Junior Reilly Hunt pulled Lacey even with a goal in the 62nd minute after Nate Wiley's goal off a Youssef Abdelaziz feed staked Central to a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute.

Junior keeper Tom Ruscitti turned in a crucial save in the 80th minute to preserve the win.

Southern 2, Pinelands 0

Sophomore Connor Feeney and junior Brad Bischoff each came through with second-half goals to help the Rams knock off the Wildcats and give first-year coach Guy Lockwood his first victory.

 

Non-Conference

West Windsor-Plainsboro South 3, Brick Memorial 2

Juniors Steve Ferebee and Erik Fatovic each scored a goal, but the Pirates took down the Mustangs (0-2) with a tiebreaking goal in the second half. Junior Brian Gerard assisted Fatovic's equalizer in the 50th minute and Ferebee scored on a first-half penalty kick.
