Middletown North 2, No. 5 Manalapan 0

Anthny Chiaino scored on a pass from Ryan Harmon 15 minutes into the game and returned the favor on Harmon's goal in the 25th as the Lions (8-6, 7-6) knocked off the Braves (8-3-2, 8-3-2) for their fourth straight win. Scott Weigel saved eight shots to nail down the shutout for Middletown North, which is 7-3 since beginning the season 1-3.

 

Class A Central

Holmdel 2, St. John Vianney 0

Rohan Ghandi scored off a pass from Justin McStay in the first half and McStay put the game away with a goal in the 74th off a Dante Marino feed to lift the Hornets (6-5-5, 4-4-4) to a win over the Lancers (6-8, 5-7), clincing a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament. Goalkeeper Tyler Marchiano made a diving save in the second half to preserve a one-goal lead and finished off the shutout.

Class B North

Long Branch 1, No. 9 Colts Neck 0

Venancio Fernandes staked Long Branch to an early lead with a goal in the first half and the Green Wave (8-7-1, 6-5-1) held on to beat the Cougars (8-6-1, 6-6-0) and clinch a Shore Conference Tournament berth.

 

Non-Division

Jackson Memorial 2, Middletown South 0

Mike Schoener scored two goals on assists from Christian Fryc and Andrew Jozwicki to lead the Jaguars (11-4-1) to a win over the Eagles (1-11-2).

No. 1 Shore 5, No. 6 Rumson-Fair Haven 2

J.T. Kessler scored four goals, including the first three of four unaswered goals by Shore to end the game as the Blue Devils (15-0) rallied from two different one-goal deficits to beat the Bulldogs (12-2) and remain unbeaten.

Matt Maisto scored from inside the six-yard line with the 50th minute to give Rumson a 2-1 lead, but Kessler answered 1:50 later off a through-ball from Stevie Johnson to even the score. That goal was the first of three goals in a span of 12 minutes for Kessler, who now has 28 on the season and 84 for his career.

Kessler scored the game-winner on a direct kick from 20 yards out that he bent around the Rumson wall and inside the near post in the 58th minute. He capped his four-goal game in the 64th with a low shot to the far lower left side netting from 14 yards out.

Stevie Johnson scored the final Shore goal in the 73rd off an assist from Matt Dutra, capping a one-goal, two-assist game.

Rumson took the first lead on a penalty kick by Jamie Martin in the 11th minute following a trip in the box. Kessler tied it with a penalty kick in the 20th after he was taken down in the penalty area on the other end.

 

Non-Conference

Perth Amboy 3, Brick 1

Neptune 3, Egg Harbor 1

The Scarlet Fliers (9-9) scored twice while playing down a man to break a 1-1 tie, beat the Eagles (8-3) and clinch a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament.

Dan Fonrose gave Neptune a 1-0 lead in the first half with the first of his two goals before Egg Harbor tied the game on a penalty kick. Fonrose and Matt Jegou later scored while Neptune was playing with only 10 players after a second yellow card left the Scarlet Fliers a man down following the penalty kick.

No. 4 Freehold Twp. 2, Pennington 2

Chris Hoskins headed in a set piece from Mike Maltese in the 72nd minute to tie the game at 2 and the Patriots (8-2-4) battled unbeaten Pennington (7-0-3) to a draw. Hoskins also assisted a goal by Chris Anello in the first half to give Freehold Township a 1-0 lead.

Satchel Cortet scored the equalizer for Pennington and the Patriots surrendered an own goal in the 68th to fall behind 2-1. Goalkeeper Mike Christina saved Freehold Township by stopping a one-on-one attempt from six yards out in the second overtime.
