Jake Bordman scored in the first half and Ben Metzger added a goal and an assist in the second half as the Mustangs topped the Bulldogs in a non-divisional game between teams trying to fight their way into the Shore Conference Tournament. Metzger assisted a goal by Bryan DaSilva to make it 2-0 in the 55th minute and tacked on a goal in the 79th.
Jamie Martin scored the lone Rumson goal in the 68th minute.
Holmdel 1, No. 8 Middletown North 0
Nick Zolofra converted a penalty kick five minutes into the game and the Hornets made the goal stand up in a win over the Lions. Rob Ceriello drew a foul in the 18-yard box on a bouncing ball near the goal.
Middletown North sophomore Justin McKenna squared up two headers off crosses into the box during the second half, but the first hit the crossbar and the second sailed just above it.
