J.T. Kessler, Shore

The Shore’s leading scorer from a year ago has picked up where he left off as a junior, opening his senior year with five goals in the Blue Devils’ first to games. Kessler scored a pair of goals in a 6-0 thumping of Middletown South last Tuesday and score three goals in the first 16 minutes of a 3-2 win over division rival Point Beach on Friday.

Honorable Mention

Matt Maisto, Rumson-Fair Haven – Maisto scored his first career hat trick in a 4-3 win over Red Bank, including the tying and winning goals in the final seven minutes He also scored a goal in a 4-1 win over Monmouth and assisted a goal in a 2-1 win over Manasquan.

Sam Monaco, Point Boro – Monaco posted three goals in two games, scoring  goal in a 3-0 win over North Brunswick and two more in a 3-1 win over Barnegat.

Cameron Geerinck, Toms River South – Geerinck put up a hat trick in an 8-0 win over Brick on Saturday morning.

Robert Biele, Lacey – Back on opening day, Biele recorded a hat trick against Barnegat to help give the Bengals a 5-0 win.

Reilly Barcas, Wall – Barcas scored a goal in each of Wall’s games, close wins over Colts Neck (1-0) and St. Rose (2-0).

Brandon Pirog, Jackson Liberty – Scored an equalizer just before game vs. Donovan Catholic was called due to lightning and later scored two in a 7-0 win over Lakewood.

Aaron Robertson , John Frycz and Tom Judge, CBA – The Colts trio scored two goals apiece in an 8-0 win over Middletown North on Friday.

Jesse Dopelt, Holmdel – The senior outside back set up Holmdel’s first goal of the season with a long throw-in against Toms River South and scored the equalizer against Colts Neck with seven seconds left in regulation, which helped Holmdel salvage a 1-1 draw.

AO Odunlami, Ranney - The Panthers freshman scored a goal in each of Ranney's two wins to open the season, including the winner in a 2-1 victory over Pinelands.
