LAKEWOOD - The Pinelands boys soccer team got arguably its stiffest challenge in Shore Conference Class B South play Wednesday on the road against Lakewood, and yet, with four minutes left in the game, the Wildcats still found themselves with a three-goal lead.

Late goals by Anthony Diaz and Creed Nass complemented an earlier score by Cade Sundermann and the Wildcats buried Lakewood, 3-1, for its second win over the Piners this season and ninth straight overall to start the season.

Sundermann scored in the 28th minute off an assist by Dominic Dos Santos, who scored four goals in a 6-1 win over Lacey on Monday, to open the scoring. The Wildcats nursed the lead for the next 42 minutes before Diaz added an insurance goal in the 70th off a feed from Aniello Lubrano.

Creed Nass capped the Pinelands scoring in the 76th on a set-up from Kieran Sundermann before Kristian Talas got Lakewood on the board in the 78th.

Pinelands has won three-games by a one-goal margin this season and two of those were in the division. They came against Jackson Liberty and Donovan Catholic, which are currently the sixth and seventh-place teams in B South. Against the top-half of the division, Pinelands is 4-0 with a goal differential of 19-3.

Despite the loss, Lakewood remains in sole possession of first place in Class B South after Wednesday's action.
