FREEHOLD BOROUGH - It has only been three games, but the Freehold Boro boys soccer team has discovered its go-to scorer when the game is in the balance.

Junior Isaac Ball scored his second game-winning goal of the season Thursday, this time with 1:07 left in the second half on a pass from Phil Franco, and the Colonials - ranked No. 7 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10 - took down Middletown South in in the first Shore Conference Class A North divisional game for both teams.

In Freehold Boro's first win of the season, a 1-0 win over Wall on Sept. 6, Ball scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute. The goal, and in turn the win, helped the Colonials bounce back from a 3-0 loss to No. 3 Ocean to open the season.

Ball also assisted an equalizer by Abel Herrera in the 27th minute Thursday and Lucas Bruckmann drilled a penalty kick with 1:23 left in the first half to give Freehold Boro its first lead, 2-1.

Sean Liner pulled Middletown South even, 2-2, in the 50th minute after the Eagles entered the second half trailing by a goal.

Junior Danny Minze staked Middletown South to a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 15th minute.
