NRS Shore Sports Network Boys Soccer Player of the Week
Joe Kiernan, Southern
The Rams continued their soccer renaissance this week with overtime wins over Lacey and Jackson Memorial and Kiernan has the man of the match in each win. Against Lacey on Monday, Kiernan scored the game-tying goal in regulation and the golden goal in overtime. The next day, he scored a regulation goal and again tallied the overtime winner to give Southern a 3-2 win and a regular-season sweep of Jackson Memorial.
Kiernan has been instrumental in Southern’s turnaround this year. He has recorded nine goals and four assists for the Rams, who currently sit at 8-4 and have already locked up a spot in next week’s Shore Conference Tournament.

Divisional Players of the Week
Class A North
P.J. Ringel, Marlboro
Marlboro entered this season with a foundation on defense and in goal and the Mustangs have added the scoring in recent weeks. Ringel was the main scoring contributor this past week, recording a hat trick in a 3-1 win over Howell and contributing a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win over Freehold Borough.

Class A Central
Keleb Mehari, Matawan
The Huskies solidified their position as a top 10 team in the Shore Conference this week by taking down previously unbeaten Asbury Park. Mehari scored a goal in that game and also added one earlier in the week in a 3-2 win over Rumson-Fair Haven. Mehari has also spent the season anchoring the Matawan defense as a center fullback.

Class B North
Dan Del Guercio, Manasquan
The Warriors stayed in the B North hunt this past week by beating Middletown South and Wall. Del Guercio assisted two of the Manasquan goals in Monday’s win over Middletown South and scored the game-winner in a 1-0 win over Wall on Friday.

Class B Central
Mike Ciorlian, Point Beach
In three games over the last week, Ciorlian went off for six goals and an assists to help the Garnet Gulls remain in contention for a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament. He scored the team’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Point Boro, recorded a hat trick in a 5-1 win over Mater Dei Prep, and added two more goals plus an assist in a 6-1 Point Beach win over Henry Hudson.

Class B South
Anthony Calixto, Lakewood
The Piners kept their Shore Conference Tournament hopes alive with a pair of big wins to cap last week and Calixto carried his team to both of them. Calixto erupted for four second-half goals in a 6-4 win over Barnegat on Friday, then scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Lacey on Saturday.
