Howell 1, Neptune 0

Sophomore Mike Anello scored on a pass from Marcelo Giraldo in the second half and the Rebels (2-2-1, 2-2-1) held on to beat the Scarlet Fliers (2-3, 1-3), with junior Shane McBride picking up the shutout in goal.

No. 2 CBA 2, Freehold Twp. 1

Junior Dominic Bellomo scored two goals, including the game-winner with 2:25 left on the clock as the Colts (6-1, 5-0) dropped the Patriots (3-3, 2-2) to stay unbeaten in Class A North play. Junior Charlie Daly played the ball over to Bellomo, who split a pair of defenders, took a touch toward the near right post and slotted the ball to the far side netting for the winning score.

Junior Jack Hempstead assisted Bellomo's first goal, which gave CBA a 1-0 lead with 1:17 to play until halftime - a left-footed shot from 25 yards out that found the upper left corner of the goal.

Freehold Township battle back and tied the game in the 68th minute when Kevin Finn fought for positioning in the box and hit a bouncing ball to the upper right of the frame to pull the Patriots even.

The Patriots nearly tied the game again in the 79th, but Joe Lozowski saved the ball on the endline on a shot by Patriots senior Jon Finocchiaro after CBA goalkeeper Shane Keenan left his post to try and punch a throw-in away. Keenan then went up and grabbed the ball on the ensuing Freehold Township corner kick to end the threat.

Manalapan 3, Colts Neck 2

Junior Justin Goldberg recorded a hat trick in the first half and the Braves (2-1-2, 2-0-2) held off a second-half comeback by the Cougars (2-4, 1-4) to earn the hard-fought win in A North.

Goldberg opened the scoring in the 15th on a 23-yard free kick to the upper 90, then scored on a deflected shot 4:10 later. He capped his three-goal half in the 27th minute by heading in a corner kick by Jake Rubin.

Colts Neck fought back to within a goal thanks to scores by junior Anthony Fiorello and senior Zach Ferchek

No. 9 Freehold Boro 5, Marlboro 1

Abel Herrera scored three goals in the first 16 minutes and assisted a second half goal by Issac Ball to lead the Colonials (4-3, 3-2) past the Mustangs (0-5-1, 0-3-1).

Ball also assisted one of Herrera's goals in the first half, while Jake Mostowsky capped the scoring on the second assist of the game by Enrique Mendez. Jake Brower accounted for the other assist, which came on Herrera's first goal six minutes into the match.

Sam Rikshpin scored on a pass from Zach Scarpa in the 60th minute to get Marlboro on the scoreboard.

 

Class A Central

No. 8 Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Raritan 1

Junior Jeremy Nives scored the tying goal on a header in the 60th minute and senior Luke DiStefano struck for the game-winner in the 68th to rally the Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0) to a 2-1 win over the Rockets (2-2-1, 0-2-1) that kept them unbeaten. Senior George Sellig set up the equalizer with a cross that set up Nives for his header.

Raritan grabbed a 1-0 first-half lead on a goal by senior Ryan Goggins off a pass from sophomore Joe Seber.

Shore 5, Red Bank 3

Senior Jeremy Lang capped a wild stretch between the end of the first half and beginning of the second with the game-winning goal and the Blue Devils (3-4, 2-2) survived a high-scoring affair with the Bucs (1-5, 1-3).

Lang's game-winner came in the 46th minute and junior Kadison Bates added an insurance goal to cap the scoring.

Junior Ryan Bongarzone broke a 2-2 tie with a goal in the 32nd minute, which gave Shore the lead back after the Blue Devils coughed up a 2-0 lead. Shore jumped on top with goals by sophomore Sawyer Barth and junior Leonardo Montesinos in the first 15 minutes.

Senior Kevin Gomez scored two goals for Red Bank, one to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the first half and the other to tie the game in the final minutes of the first half. Senior Brandon Vuong scored to tie the game at 2-2 on a feed from Jon Paul Valencia.

Matawan 1, St. John Vianney 0

Sophomore Gavin Klamm scored the game's lone goal in the first half and the Huskies (3-3, 2-3) edged the Lancers (0-4-1, 0-3-1), with senior Chris Mallozzi picking up the shutout in goal.

 

Class B North

No. 6 Long Branch 2, Middletown South 0

Renan Acevedo scored on a pass from Venancio Fernandes and Juan Carlos Merino added a penalty kick to help the Green Wave (5-1, 3-1) top the Eagles (4-2, 2-2) for their fourth straight win. Sophomore Rodolfo Giron picked up the shutout in goal.

No. 7 Middletown North 2, No. 10 Ocean 0

Liam McGregor scored on a pass from Ryan Rhatigan in the 58th minute, then assisted one by Ryan Binn in the 75th to lead the Lions (5-1, 3-1) to a win over the Spartans (3-2, 3-1) behind second-half goals from the two seniors. Raf Goos saved five shots to earn the shutout in net.

Monmouth 6, Red Bank Catholic 2

Joel Burgos continued his torrid start with another hat trick and the Falcons (4-3, 2-2) took down the Caseys (1-4, 0-4). Burgos now has three hat tricks and a Shore-Conference-best 16 goals.

Brian Waltsak added a goal and two assists while Pat Riordan pitched in a goal and an assist for Monmouth. Mathis Quesada capped the Monmouth scoring.

Diego Volpe and Blaise Tamburi accounted for the two goals by RBC, which tied Monmouth on Volpe's goal before Burgos scored to send the Falcons into halftime with a 2-1 lead.

Wall 2, Manasquan 1

Senior Owen Crane scored the equalizer in the 65th minute and junior Riley Powers scored the winner in the 70th to lift the Crimson Knights (3-3, 2-2) to a come-from-behind win over the rival Warriors (1-4, 1-3).

Freshman Tommy Johnson scored for the third time in the last two games with his goal in the 43rd minute, which staked Manasquan to a 1-0 lead.

 

Non-Division

Barnegat 4, Brick 3

Ryan Flaherty and Aaron Douglas each scored two goals and the Bengals (4-2) won their third straight and fourth in five games by edging the Green Dragons (0-4-2). Douglas scored the game-winner in the 70th minute by heading in a cross from Cory Branz.

Point Beach 5, Manchester 3

After falling behind 2-0 in the 26th minute, the Garnet Gulls (4-1) scored five unanswered goals from the 30th to the 74th minute and beat the Hawks (1-4) in a non-divisional match for their fourth straight win.

Ki Costa scored a goal and assisted three others, while Max Alia, Alex Atno, Ryan Broduer and Mike Ciorlian each scored a goal during the run. Brodeur also added an assist, as did Andrew Garro.

Jordan Finkle scored on a pass from Tim Burns in the 15th minute and Tyler Laycock added a goal in the 26th off a set-up by Francesco D'Amato. Burns later added a goal in the 79th.

No. 4 Jackson Memorial 6, St. Rose 0

Sophomore Dan Russo and junior Andrew Keating each scored two goals and the Jaguars (5-1) coasted past the Purple Roses (3-4) to build on their hot start to the season. Senior Jacob Patti and sophomore Tyler Howlett also scored a goal apiece and Nick Kinzler needed just two saves to pick up his fourth shutout.
